The world stopped as Vegeta felt the photo frame slip from his grasp and hit the floor. He had a startled look on his face. Bra looked at him seeing him turn pale. Thinking that something was wrong she quickly sat up and looked at him.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
It took Vegeta a few minutes to come out of the shock of hearing her ask such a question. As he turned to look at her she returned his glance with those questioning eyes. She had forgotten her question about Goku and was now completely concerned with his health. She put her hand to his forehead. The feeling brought Vegeta out of his shock as he moved his head away.
“I’m fine,” he said.
Bra looked at him for a few minutes. He did not look at her as he stared down at the floor. She gently placed her hand on his arm. Vegeta, even though he knew there was no threat, tensed against her touch.
“If you like him that’s okay, I will understand,” she said with a smile.
Vegeta did not respond. How could he respond to something like that? Sure Kakarott was a good friend but to love him? It was a question Vegeta could not grasp. Even though he could not say his answer it was written all over his face. Bra smiled at him as she placed a kiss on his cheek. She then got off the bed and headed towards the door to go back downstairs. She stopped before she left and turned around to look at Vegeta. Her father was still sitting on the bed staring down at the floor.
“You should go find him. It is raining awfully hard. I bet he is cold and lonely somewhere,” she said with a smile knowing that her statement would give her father something to think about.
With that she disappeared out of the room and headed back downstairs. Vegeta sat there in silence. He heard the rain had softened as it now quietly pattered against his window seal. Vegeta started to remember what Goku had said to him just hours before. He closed his eyes and lay back on his bed. The emptiness of the room was haunting as he lay there and stared out the window watching the lightning dance across the sky. He wondered what Kakarott was doing. He was probably out there sitting under a tree, that idiot. Vegeta imagined a cold, shivering Kakarott sitting under a tree. He smirked, Goku would look pathetic. Vegeta sat up; he would like to see that. Maybe going to “save” Kakarott from the evil of the weather wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
Vegeta pulled himself off the bed and walked out of his room and headed downstairs. He walked into the kitchen to see Bra eating something. He said nothing to her as he continued through the kitchen and headed out the backdoor. Bra just smiled as she watched her father leave knowing good and well where he was going.
