Chapter Three/Four: Two Months Later

Two months had passed since Goku had been living with Vegeta at the Capsule Corp. It was pretty easy for them, living together. Goku had Vegeta’s schedule down. He made sure to follow right after it so he wouldn’t bother Vegeta at all. Vegeta would get up in the morning and get dressed; he would then go downstairs and into the gravity chamber and train. And then he would come back and eat or something and then take a shower and then he would go train more. And so on and so on. Goku mostly stayed to himself exploring the huge place. He wondered how Vegeta stayed here by himself without getting lonely. Goku knew that if he stayed in a place like this he would be terribly bored. He figured that was why Vegeta trained so much; it passed time.

The sunlight peered into the window that morning, shining into Goku’s closed eyes. Goku winced a bit, feeling the warm sun waking him up. He slowly opened his eyes and yawned. Sitting up in his bed, he stretched his arms high above his head. He blinked a few times and wiped the sleep away from his eyes. Goku yawned and looked at the clock. It was nearly 7 am. He slipped out of bed and walked downstairs in his pajama pants. He stopped towards the bottom of the steps as he heard someone in the kitchen. Goku quietly peered his head around the wall to see Vegeta sitting at the table, writing in his book.

Vegeta had been writing in it ever since he got it. In fact he was half way finished with it. He was mostly writing about how much he hated Goku. He smirked as he imagined Goku finding it and reading it. Then he would see how much he hated him and maybe he’d get a clue and go away. Goku waited a few minutes before walking into the kitchen. Vegeta didn’t bother to close his book, not caring whether Goku saw it or not and almost hoping that he did. Goku walked over to the counter and leaned against it as he stared at Vegeta. Vegeta continued to write until he noticed Goku was looking at him and stopped. He closed his book and looked up at Goku.

“Vegeta, would you mind if I poured myself a glass of orange juice?” Goku asked.

Vegeta just looked at him. After all this time they had spent together it surprised him that Goku still asked him if he could do things. Since he was in a fairly good mood, Vegeta just nodded. He watched as Goku got out a glass from his cabinet and then set it on the counter. Goku then walked over to the refrigerator and opened it, pulling out a half gallon jug of orange juice and pouring some into his glass. Vegeta sat there and watched Goku put the juice away before he stood up. He picked up his book and took it with him as he headed outside. Goku watched Vegeta leave as he took a sip of his juice. He followed him until he came to the doorway of the house and stopped, watching Vegeta cross the backyard and disappear inside the gravity chamber.

To Goku, Vegeta had been training but in reality it had been a few weeks since Vegeta had trained. He only went into the gravity chamber because he knew it was the one place Goku wouldn’t bother him. The lights automatically came on as he walked in and walked to the middle of the floor. The door closed behind him as he sat down in the middle of the floor and opened up his book. He sat there for a while staring at it trying to think what else to write. He thought about Goku as he stared around the room and then shifted his glance out the window. He could see Goku in the kitchen washing dishes. Vegeta had to admit, he WAS good for something. Vegeta was glad that the windows on the gravity chamber were tinted. He would die if Goku saw him watching him. Vegeta sat there thinking and suddenly his mind went into all sort of good things he liked about Goku. He remembered how Goku was there for him when Bulma had died. He was able to tell Goku anything and he was positive that his Kakarott never told anyone. Goku was actually a pretty good friend. He was loyal and dependable and no matter how tough the situation got or how depressing things seemed Goku would always have that stupid smile on his face that reassured Vegeta everything was going to end up okay.

Vegeta then looked down into his notebook. He had filled up the majority of it with how much he had hated Goku when the truth was, he really did not hate him. He might have disliked some of the things Goku had done to him, and he might have hated that Goku was stronger than he was. But by no means did he hate him so much he wanted him dead. Vegeta paused as he stared down reading his own handwriting realizing this was nothing but lies.

“…These type of books help us deal with our emotions. It is a two step process. First you have to fill up the book with all your thoughts. …And remember Vegeta, it has to be truthful or it won’t work.”

Vegeta sat there remembering what Goku had said. He then opened the book to the first page and started to scratch everything out. When he was finished he opened the book to a new page and started to write again.
