The I in Me

The Virtue of Intelligence

In America today, there are essentially two classes of people: the intelligent, and the unintelligent. Some people naturally have to struggle through everything that they do, while others soar through nearly every problem that they encounter. There is nothing wrong with being unintelligent, but more importantly, there is nothing wrong with being intelligent. This is at the core of many problems. For some reason, people who aren't as smart as others have assumed that they are entitled to the same things as people who are smarter and work harder.

This idea is why the rich, or the prosperous, pay more taxes: they make more money, therefore people somehow think that they can give it away. How about this idea: people work harder for their money to get more money, as in to keep more money. This is punishing people for working harder. The government, and many other people are saying to thousands of others, the harder you work, the more we will leach off of you. Physically, this is impossible. If the brain swallowed the body's blood, the body would die. The brain would kill the body. That is not healthy either as a government or as a body. I know how ridiculous this may at first sound, even though it actually does make sense. And I hear you saying that these two things are completely different and that they do not relate at all, but they do. For those who don't believe this and can support it, my E-mail address is at the end. But our paychecks aren't the only way we're being screwed. The government also stifles, yes stifles our economy by slowing down the rate at which we receive it. You’ve all heard it a thousand times: our technology is ten years old by the time we get it.

Now, imagine where we would be if the government did not do this. We would be ten years ahead, we would be ahead. We would not be running a technological race with foreign countries, we would be ruling the race.

We all hate it when (the local football team) the Huskers lose , but we are letting our country do just that: lose. We love shutouts. But our country is becoming second rate because of this. Don't you see that this delay on our economy, is a delay on our livelihood. The government, the people who rule over us, the minority, the unintelligent, are punishing us, the producers, the thinkers, the workers. We are suffering, we are working at a loss, for whom? For people we don't even know? For people who refuse to work, to think, to live. At school, lots of kids sit through classes that, if allowed to test out of, they would not have to take. In many classes, the pace at which t the curriculum crawls, is so slow that I feel that I am being punished for being intelligent.

If our college prepatory school actually prepared us for college, this would not happen.

This situation regarding our taxes, our technology, and our children is inclement. We are hurting ourselves and ignoring our own political system which gives us the right to change it. The majority of people do work and do think, but the majority is yielding to those less fortunate regarding brain power. Our government was set up as a democracy. Rough translation: the majority chooses the rules that we have to abide by. That is where we are messing up...we are not choosing to live, we are choosing its antithesis.
