Westward Expansion Acrostic Poem

|Westward Expansion|

This is an acrostic poem that I wrote for my social studies class. We had to write an acrostic poem either from a Native American's point of view or from a white American's point of view. I chose to write it from a Native's perspective. This poem may not be copied. If you do, I'll sick my rabid potato filled penguin on you! *shakes fist* I hope you like my poem! Muhahahaha!

White people are invading our homes.

Everything is changing so quickly.

Settlers keep pushing us further west until there is no place to go.

Thousands of my fellow natives are being killed in battles.

We fight together to try to get rid of the white people but it isn’t working.

Americans are forcing us to live on reservations that we all hate.

Reservations are built on horrible land that no white person wants.

Dead buffalos are piling up in the plains.

Every inch of the land has been taken away by the white people.

EXpansion west was the worst thing to happen to us.

Priests are trying to convert us into Christians.

Americans are giving us diseases that are new to us.

Never have we seen so many white people.

Small rations are given to us every week of food we don’t like.

I’m not going to give up my home without a fight.

Our culture and way of life are being taken away.

Native Americans all across the land have lost the fight for their freedom.
