Tendrill have finally confirmed a
few titles that will appear on the debut album, provisionally titled "Quiddity".
Here is the full list, with a commentary
from Jericho concerning what sort of style each piece would be, and a short
synopsis of the lyrics. These synopses
may or may not contain information that is correct, because we know how
many tall tales the band are liable
to tell. Be warned!

This one is about what goes on in Rick's head. Lots of imagery of vastness
and oceans. I don't really like
asking him too much about his lyrics because his head is a pretty scary place. Musically this is heavy yet uplifting. Happenstance - It's about the possibility of each individual having an individual dimension, and how they interact. It's also about getting off your arse and taking advantage of opportunities that come along. Quite electronic and claustraphobic with some cool effects. One of the slower numbers. Conscience - Er...it's about someone taking advantage of you. Manipulation and mind games. It is actually quite a positive song. More drum'n'bass orientated but with a great big guitar just for good measure.. Missing - I wrote this as a love song for someone special. Starts softly but builds nicely. Massive riff at the end. Probably my favourite so far. Drowned - It's a sequel to Missing I suppose. Could be about anyone. The universal pain of being "let go". The closest thing I've written to Crowbar. Music for constipation. Corrode - Probably the harshest thing I have ever written. It made me feel better though. Incidentally most of these quite recent, which is why we haven't really got anything done. Too much hate is bad for your songwriting. Another monster riff with some cool harmonies from yer man Rick. Glass Eye - It's about moving on, not living in the past. One of the more reflective moments on the album. Goes well with a Hookah pipe. Better Than Me - It's about being lied to. One of my pet hates. Rifftatstic again but with some crazy Indian vibe stuff that I love. Gifts Of Forgiveness - About offering the olive branch when you don't really need to. Life's too short to hold grudges. Takes a while to kick in but the overall feel is pretty spacey and ambient. Stay till the end and you are rewarded with a riff that will surely see some air guitar poses struck. Not in front of your friends mind. |
There will be at least 5 more tracks
on the album, but as the running list has not been finalised some of these
may not yet make it. However there will be an EP released prior to the
album which will contain a couple of covers and three original songs, so
any songs that do not make it to the will be released on the EP. Please
note that the EP will not contain any throwaway material - if it doesn't
make it on the album it is because Tendrill want to keep the album fairly
short and a s diverse as possible.
