It has come to the point where we would go to the Reef not knowing why we came. After a night of kareoke, drinking, or even a beach party we would afterwards travel our happy drunk asses to the Reef only to wonder why we're there. The Reef was the first place introduced to Killa and myself when we first arrived on Oki. At first it was nothing more than a bar. What started off as just a bar became a weekend routine soon after it became our 2nd home. Now don't judge us too fast. We're not alchoholics. The Reef is more of a hang out for us. A place where during your night's off you would go and just talk about home or the past adventures you've experienced. The Reef was also a good place to meet old surf junkies, or even get the early news of the upcoming surf contests. The Reef has changed a lot since I've been here. Not that many okinawan locals come here anymore. When they do it's always after a surf contest and they all drink to congratulate the winners and mingle amoung the other competitors and wish them luck next time. Of course these parties are charged so not that many american's attend.
Honestly, I have to say this is the best time to visit the Reef. All in all the Hard Reef will always be the team's local bar and favorite hang out during the time's we're not out catching waves. To the staff of the Reef, thanks for everything.
The Reef... many memories and experiences have been shared here between the team. Some personal and some just strait out of a comedy sit-com. In the last 2 years we've seen people come and go. There was a time when the Reef was a strait local surf bar. It still is... just not that many surfers anymore. This was the staging place of the team.
