Agenda for Wednesday, March 3, 2004 Called to order at 715pm by Doug Overes. Doug welcomed Heng, Mark, Joe, Rob, Peggy, Debbie, and the host from Luigi’s in Taber Joe. Was decided that we would use the old forms and letterhead until they run out, and then change to new logo. As well, it was decided that there was no need to have executive meeting regarding the changing of ethics and bylaws etc. Debbie was asked to get Karl to put new logo and such onto our website for national site. National conference in PEI June 8 to 12, 2004. Doug and Debbie are going and so Rob is to send in our registration and payment for us. Doug will be using his professional development fund to go, so Debbie has been asked to submit proposal of costs associated with going to see what the CCF-Lethbridge can and will pay for. Proposal to be submitted by next meeting. Culinary Team Alberta has chosen Amber Clay as the student to go with Doug and Melissa as the alternate. Good luck in Germany Amber! Evening of the Masters in Edmonton is a fund raiser for Team Alberta. Anyone interested in attending or volunteering should speak to Doug Overes. Our annual wind up party will be golfing this year. Mark and Doug will set up and give us a run down on details next meeting. We have an outstanding application from a student who has not paid for his knife set at the college. All present voted not to accept his application until such time as his debt is paid in full. At that time it will be brought before the meeting again. April 5, 2004 is the Big Rock/Sysco Info seminar. Venue to be decided yet. This will be a information gathering for students and culinarians throughout southern Alberta. It was decided by all, that our post office box renewal will be changed to the new CCF- Lethbridge Branch name. Vice President Report Amber Clay submitted application to join CCF, all voted to accept her application. Secretary ReportLost souls— We have submitted all information we have regarding this matter to National Branch office. Treasurer ReportInvoices for 2004 dues have been mailed out. Reimbursed Doug for last Dinner meeting. Our financial picture is looking really good. Proposal brought to the table that we maybe make our annual donation to the college of a plaque and knife set be for an apprentice in the third year. Rob will talk to LCC and find out if this is possible. Education Director ReportLCC has had 4 students come forward who are interested in going to Skills Canada. These 4 will have a cook off, and the winner will go to Skills Canada. LCC has been making changes to the culinary program. LCC has combined the first and second year and made it one culinary program in trimesters. Old newsDecided at meeting that maybe we should get our own domain name. Doug will be speaking to Karl to get this done. Debbie and Doug have been trying to get a hold of the National office to find information on the ‘Kraft Canada Traveling Chef’ with no luck. But we will keep trying. Open forumJoe from Luigi’s brought to our attention that there is a Sysco/VQA beef competition out there. We were not aware of this and we are looking into it. Joe also mentioned that this might be our 25th year anniversary and are we going to do anything. Rob is going to look into this and let us know. The ICE 2005 has been cancelled due to lack of funding. Meeting Adjourned |
