Of the S.A.A.C meeting
Held on 8th January, 2003

 

In Attendance:

Joe Henke, Debbie Clauss, Doug Overes, Rob Sonnenberg, Charles Parker

 

Meeting called to order by Doug Overes at 7:10pm
Seconded by Debbie Clauss

 

President’s Report:

Turn out for the Christmas skate was extremely poor.  Discussed having it at a different time of the year next season.

 

The Flames road trip has been postponed until further notice.  We as an executive are looking into better possibilities for seating and transportation.

 

The competition in Edmonton on January 24/25 is likely not to be attended by us as we did not receive any information early enough.  Chef Parker is looking into this and will let us know how we are going to proceed.

 

An ice carving trip is scheduled for February 3/03.  Happy carving students.

 

There will be no general meeting in February due to busy school schedules.

Vice President’s Report:          

The Presidents dinner and dance has been scheduled for March 28, 2003.  The executive is still discussing the venue and menu and will have an update by next meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:           

 

 

 

 

Discussion as to national membership dues ($137.00 for existing members, and $139.10 for new members). Local members $41.40, and Rob Sonnenberg made a proposal that all new member initiation dues be waived, Associate members (local only) $40.00, and local junior members $20.00; 2nd by Doug Overes.

 

Education Director’s Report:          

Charles mentioned that the Culinary salon on February 14/03 is in need of judges.  The possibility of getting Jared, Marjorie, or Todd Bevan was brought up and Chef Parker is going to look into this and get back to us.

 

New positions at the college for the instructors are as follows: Chef Allen-Apprentices, Chef Rob- Certificate program, Chef Doug- Diploma Program, Chef Joe-Tournant. Good luck to each of you in your new positions.

 

Old News:      

All in attendance was in favor of continuing to support the LCC Students Awards Program.  Each year we donate a set of knives and a plaque.

 

As an executive we have decided to update our bylaws and ethics.  This will be done in February sometime.

 A trip to the western conference was discussed.  Chef Doug and Debbie will be attending with their spouses .  It was agreed that the SAAC would pay for the gas, registration, and hotel rooms.  The conference will be held March 7-9/03.
