As a forewarning and possibly a foreshadowing, these are reader-submitted editorials on the subject of god and religion. GL does not endorse nor recriminate anything said here, as we believe in free thought and freedom of speech. These are as is, as submitted. It does not necessarily represent GL's belief in these matters either. Thank you. And to the lawsuit happy chipmunk-headed people out there who've forced me to put this lame warning on the page, a big old *Thbbppppt* to you.

god.
What a powerful word even in its simplicity. god...creator of all life...the man with the final say on your passport to eternal bliss - that's the problem kids. Humans were not built to properly idolize a higher being, it's an excuse, a crutch like any drug from prozac to adrenaline to endorphines. It has become an answer to all the problems we fear not knowing..and it takes all kinds to stop looking..people like Bush are no different than the white trash jack-off next door that thinks god told him to castrate himself and keep a moose in slavery to fuck twice a week...I don't know about you, but me..I'm frightened.
I'm frightened because I don't think I have the power to stop this religious bullshit propaganda of the Virgin Mary's uterus drawn on my wall in oil, and my (for lack of a better word) faith in you is pretty lacking as well - so I don't think we're going to have another civil war of beliefs on our hands.

Joshua Ben Yosef was his name...that's the asshole that started all this...Joshua Ben Yosef, a.k.a. Big Baby jesus (jesus is greek for "one who was annointed.") JBY was a smart bastard and I hate him because he thought of the perfect way to keep the human race under control before I did, I'm truly jelous. Religion is one of the earliest forms of government...you get a treat if you're good and you work hard...you burn in hell if you don't...that's that. I must ask though..if Christianity is so firmly founded...Joshua Ben Yosef was a dark skinned man, young with an underdeveloped beard, he had the Romans fearing a slave revolution...so they took him to court, falsely accused him of crimes and executed him. How is it that the Romans founded Christianity? Where do your beliefs stand now? Unless you have some sort of time machine...this is the real Big Brother shit...1984 my friends...we can't even learn from the past because it is written by those who want to keep us barred.

god...like its antithesis, is nothing more than a claim to what an individual believes is true. I won't go off on someone with judeo-christian beliefs just because he or she holds those beliefs...that's what got us where we are now, kids...sucking the marrow from the bones of dead priests just to prove our faith true and effecient..

Suck it, Clinton Danial McAllister

God: Fact, Fiction, or a really smart monk?
Have you ever sat down, and questioned your religion, your beliefs? Have you ever questioned that maybe God is real, or maybe God doesn't exist, or perhaps the Lakota Suix God is real, or perhaps Buddha? I do, every day of my life. I question my religion every day. Now perhaps some self-righteous Christians would tell me that's because I should accept Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, but no, that's not it. Perhaps some atheists would tell me that it's because there is no God, and my mind is trying to tell me. That seems more likely to me, but once again, no. The reason I question my own beliefs, among everyone else's, every day is because I'm a very open minded person, and while I do have "faith" in what I believe in, I realize that there is a great possibility that everything I believe is wrong, simply because of all the religions.
You have Christians who would bet their life on their religion, same with Wiccans, and Jews. All of them, so sure they're correct. Well, I'm not sure. Perhaps my words will shake your beliefs; in fact, I hope so. I'd love to see some people use their brains. If not, your loss; stay molded, formed; continue to be herded like the sheep you are. Now I'm gonna hit the biggest religion in the US first: Christianity.
Oh, how I could "bash" bible-thumpers all day. Not because I'd enjoy it, but because it's so easy to knock off. For instance..let's pick up one little thread...Heaven and Hell. The general belief of Heaven and Hell is, simply tranquility and absolute torture, right? Right. However..tell me..let's take Heaven for example..how could you be happy..if you were never sad? Here's your chance, folks; THINK! Sadness defines happiness, and vice versa. Same with pleasure and pain..applying to hell. Both would be a pointless existence of nothing. There's one point down..now...that's all I'll do today on it. However, let's look at religion in general now. Just the concept..what has religion done throughout history? Explained the unexplainable at that time..and then, it's also given hope. Hope for afterlife. Without it, people would be so terrified about dieing..or drop into apathy. Perhaps a really smart monk created it all to control people's lives in a moral way, and to give them something to live for when nothing else was left? Perhaps; for right now, we'll never know. Or perhaps God did create the world..and all of is..and the great forgiving God...created people who he knew wouldn't be saved, as he is all knowing? Ah, but I said I was done with Christianity.
At last..god...fiction? It'd make a lot of sense...but I don't believe that. Keep thinking, searching, and please, don't touch the molded cheddar -Mythical

"God? He is the biggest bitch of them all." --The Mole, in _South Park: the Movie_
Two sonnets I wrote while under the influence of a chemical that contains 420 atoms. They're about divine beings and ::gasp:: they're not unremittingly bitter! Way to go Viz for broadening my horizons...
O harlot of illusionary time capturing each moment in her web spins out the bliss, the terror, the sublime: all things reside within her flow and ebb. the days, the years that flash before our eyes are strands of light shot from her weaving hands- poor sould, can we know if the fibers lie? she walks in darkness, where we cannot stand. this world of ours, a phantom all the while was born in one bright corner of her smile.

kind like a vorpal surgeon, he'll announce the end of all your poor eyes know to see when God the jumping spider comes to pounce upon the strands you're trapped in like a flea. and did you choose to walk time's whirling thread? or was your will too slow to give consent? the lord of all will grind your bones to bread, and no one else will wonder where you went. the love of heaven whittles down to this: the death of Our Lord's servants is his bliss.
