Wicca

With so many different religions in the world and so many variations of each one, which one is correct?

Ask a true Wiccan this question and the answer should be: All of them!

Wiccan's believe that the Divine (God) is a power that resides within all things in existance, but also that no mortal brain could possibly comprehend this power in its entirety. Therefore in order to relate to the Divine, each person has to put a face to it that makes sense to them. So, for example, Jews have God, Christians have Jesus and Mary, and Wiccans have the God and Goddess.

Most people associate Wicca solely with the casting of spells. While it is true that spells are a part of Wicca, they are only a small part. Wicca is an entire system of belief and a way of life. Wicca is not evil, we do not seek to bind others to our will. Infact the most important rule in Wicca is "An it harm none, do what thou will" or in other words "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you" Sound familiar? Do nothing to harm others, do nothing to harm yourself (yet, just about every other Wiccan I know is a smoker, go figure)

Spells are not a mystical power, they are merely a request to the Divine in the same way as a prayer only a little more focused. The most important part of the spell is the intent behind it, all the other stuff, the candles, incense etc. is just to help us to focus our energy on the subject. I personally do not believe in Love spells and anything that binds another to your will, but I do believe that if you focus your energy hard enough to can attract certain things you may desire, eg. that new car you've had your eye on (which doesn't mean that it will just come to you, just that you will find a way to buy it), or that you can focus healing energy to either your own body or to someone else's.

Hopefully soon, I may be able to put up some examples from my own Book of Shadows but until then, if you do a search for Wicca or Witch on any search engine you should find plenty of examples.

The important thing to remember is that no matter what Religion a person may belong to, he/she is still a person and came from the same source of creation as you did (even if you may have differing view points on what that source is). As a comedian once said "Fighting over religion is like fighting over who has the best imaginary friend".

Blessed Be.
