1999 This was the first year every manager returned from the previous year. Nobody dropped out! Pre-draft, the favorites were Jim, Steve, Dave and Roly. Jim was able to franchise McGwire; Steve had the best pitcher in the game and the second best catcher franchised. Roly had a great pitcher, last years MVP, and the MicroLeague home run champ. Dave had the nucleus that would be all he needed; Jeter, Brown, C Jones. Bill once again posted the best record. MVP went to Bagwell again, despite Piazza's and A Rod's great years. However, Kevin Brown posted one of the best MircroLeague years ever and ran away with the Cy Young. Scott set two new team records with 290 homers for the season and most strikeouts by a pitching staff. The playoffs were very intense. Bill continued his poor showing in the playoffs and bowed out once again in the first round. Roly had 4 all stars and an awesome pitching staff, but Vince beat him out in a great series. This year marked the third time in microleague history that Vince made it to the championship and lost. It was Dave in just his second year that proved victorious. New year and a new program. It was also an expansion year. We welcomed in Jeff Wichman, Scott Easton, Dave Pike, and Doug Gourley. The big steal of the draft was Jeff Bagwell in the THIRD ROUND!!! by Roly. Bill once again finished with the best record. Despite all the excitement over Sosa and McGwire's great seasons, neither played a major part for their teams. Pedro Martinez 97 set a record with 267 K's for Steve. Jeff Bagwell went on to record his first MVP. The Playoffs had Bill and Rick bowing out in the first round. Which left Vince and myself to do battle in the World Series. Vince was no match for my offense and I won easily.
