Beyond Re-Animator (2003)

Herbert West returns, but is in prison for his actions in the previous films. He continues his work on dead prisoners with the help of a new a partner/doctor. I really dug this third chapter in the series. It was very fast paced with a lot of humor, gore and good acting all around. It took me a while, but I finally warmed up to the character of Herbert West. If you liked the series up till now, you have to check this one out as well. 4 out of 5.

Characters

• Herbert West: Our favorite mad scientist is in prison, but that doesn't stop him from continuing his experiments on bringing the dead back to life.
• Howard: West's new partner who saw his work first-hand years earlier, and who now works at the prison as a doctor.
• Laura: Journalist covering a story at the prison who becomes Howard's love intrest. That's never a good thing to be in one of these movies. Strangled to death but brought back to life... and killed again.
• Warden Brando: Evil man who runs the prison. Electrocuted, but brought back to life with the soul of a rat. You kinda have to watch.
• Sergeant Moncho: The main prison gaurd who always seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Beaten to death with a cane and brought back.
• Moses: Prisoner who is a religous nut. Dies of natural causes and is brought back.
• Cabrera: Latino prisoner who doesn't care for West too much. Continues to try to kill him even after his legs are ripped off.
• Nurse Vanessa: Howard's new nurse who seems to get a pretty raw deal in this movie. She gets her breast bitten, but lives.
• Speedball: A hippie drug-loveing prisoner who injects the syrum into himself while he's still alive. Explodes.
