WELCOME TO ALL
Much of the following information is repeated from last week for families who were not here last Monday.
INFORMATION
In the office, we have copies of basic information to give out about the athletic competitions available for the children, the fees by age group, and the cost of uniforms. As there are five pages in this handout, please take only one copy per family.
ENROLMENT
Enrolment takes place in the office building next to the grandstand. The enrolment forms are available to take home tonight, but remember that proof of children's ages(such as Plunket Book) will be required. Everyone will has two nights of free attendance. Please note the advice about uniforms in the information handout - also, we do not intend to or make any profit from the uniforms.
CLUB PROGRAMME
Tonight, we will be running the Week Two programme of two track events and two field events (for the 7-14 year olds). At this stage, after one club night, we still do not know how the mix of age groups will be finalised until the main part of the enrollments. Tonight, the Tiny Tots will mainly be doing jumping events.
We rely on parents to act as age group managers and take children around from events to event each night. Parents from last season will now have the experience and background knowledge to perform this function. If there is not any such parent(s) then the children have to stay put. A copy of the night's programme is available for each group each night
THERE WILL BE A CLUB NIGHT ON LABOUR DAY (MONDAY 22 OCTOBER). However, there will not be recording of times/distances until after then as this gives us time to set up permanent sheets with names on them and columns to record their times/distances.
SAFETY
The programme we have each night helps to maximise safety - for example, the tots are not in the middle of the field when the 10's and over are throwing the discus. Also, do not let the children cross the track during other races on the track
RIBBON DAY
The first Ribbon Day is at Cambridge on Saturday 27 October. There is no need for a map - the grounds are on the left, opposite the water tower, as you enter the town. They start at 10.00am and finish at about 3.30pm.
This is the only Ribbon Day where the rules about uniform etc (for 7-14 year olds) are not strictly enforced. But do not wear baggy shorts or loose designer shirts. I have been selected to be the Referee at this meeting - therefore, if uniform or age flash are not worn, I have the right to allow children to compete, and put their age group on their hand in marker pen.
Fairfield Club will be doing the timekeeping, and we have been asked to do timekeeping at Kawerau the following Saturday [3 November].
COLGATE GAMES
We have been informed that the North Island Colgate registration forms are being sent out this week, with the closing date being 17 November.
TRANSTASMAN
We have copies of the Transtasman flier to give out to all the 10 and 11 year olds (age as at 1 October 2001 - the Australian age groupings are slightly different than New Zealand's). The first trial is on 27 October at Papakura.

OLD UNIFORMS AND SHOES/SPIKES
If anyone want to bring old uniforms for selling, swapping, or given away, bring them to the office. Also, I can put information in the newsletter for anyone who wants to be contacted at home.
ATHLETIC COURSES
If five or more parents are interested in doing a course about any aspect of athletics (e.g. sprints, jumps) the development officers at Sport Waikato will organise them for us. Please contact Frank Holcroft, the club captain, or myself. Most courses are of three hours, held either at night or on a Sunday morning.
WEB SITE
Mike McGrath and Graham Brown have set up a web site for the club. As well as some club information, the weekly newsletters will be placed on it. Therefore, if you miss a club night, just hit on to the website so you catch up with the latest on www.angelfire.com/ego/faac.
