CLUB PROGRAMME
Tonight is the third week of a new three-week programme. This allows for a longer time for practice / training at each field event. After tonight, we will decide about how it has gone and whether it has achieved its aims. Tonight, the Tiny Tots mainly be doing jumping events. If any one has access to a sack needle and thread, can you please tell me tonight so that I can make repairs to the sugar sacks.
INFORMATION
For those who are new tonight, we have copies of basic information in the office to give out about the athletic competitions available for the children and the fees by age group. Please take only one copy per family. Proof of children's ages(such as Plunket Book) will be required with enrolment forms.
UNIFORMS
Because on increases in the price of materials, the cost of shorts is now $22.00 and the shirts are $20.00. For those who have already ordered, we will honour the old price. As previously stated, we do not intend to or make any profit from the uniforms.
We also sell club T-shirts (a white shirt with the club logo) - see Dianne Larsen for details. Last year the cost was $10.00 each. We place an order with the supplier every time we have 10 confirmed orders from parents.
COLGATE GAMES
This is the final call for entries for the North Island Colgate Games at Wanganui. The entry forms can be collected from the office along with information about the motel that the club has booked.
If anyone wants to go to the South Island Colgate Games of 11-13 January at Blenheim, please also see us at the office.
TRAINING
Hamilton Hawks have invited our 12-14 year olds to their coaching sessions on a regular basis. There is something on most days of the week. If any of our older children missed out on a copy of their coaching programme, and the name of the coaches, please see me.
Thank you to Leah Morgan of Hamilton Hawks for assisting with the shot put last week.
COACH EDUCATION
Fairfield Club had advised Sport Force Waikato that we have at least five parents wanting to do coaching courses. Therefore, two courses have been arranged for our area. A sprint course will be held on 25 November and a long jump course on 9 December. Even if you do not have a Level 1, the club will subsidise you so that it is $15.00 for everyone. This opportunity is too good to pass up and will be useful in helping your children in later years. For more information, contact Don Willoughby at 827 8051 / 025 757 523.
RIBBON DAY
Last Saturday, the Ribbon Day was at Tokoroa. We had 17 children present, and Fairfield parents did the timekeeping. The weather was fine, a big change from the windy cloudy conditions of the last three years at Tokoroa. It finished soon after 3.30pm.
This Saturday, the Ribbon Day is at Papamoa. The location of the Papamoa Sports Centre is shown on the attached map. For those viewing this newsletter on E-mail, head south along State Highway 2 towards Te Puke. Turn off left to Papamoa just before the bridge over the railway line. Take Tora Road to the right. At the end of Tora Road, turn left and the sports ground is on the left-hand side.
The Ribbon Day of 24 November will be at Te Awamutu (inside their cycling stadium). A map will be provided with next week.'s newsletter.
