WELCOME TO ALL
Tonight is the fifth night of the season, and perhaps there will fine weather tonight.
CLUB PROGRAMME
Tonight, we will be running the second week of a new three-week programme. This allows for a longer time(30-40 minutes) for practice / training at each field event. The 7-9 year olds will be only doing one track event (60 metres, 100 metres, 200 metres) between 6.10pm and 6.30pm. The 10-14 year olds will still two track and two field events, starting with a long-distance event (i.e. 400/800/1500 metres) and finishing with a sprint. The Tiny Tots programme is unchanged (still 5.30-6-30pm) and tonight they will mainly be doing throwing events. If any one has access to a sack needle and thread, can you please tell me tonight so that I can make repairs to the sugar sacks used for the jumping night next week.
INFORMATION
For those who are new tonight, we have copies of basic information in the office to give out about the athletic competitions available for the children and the fees by age group. Please take only one copy per family.
ENROLMENT
As most children will have had two nights of free attendance, we will now only time or measure those whose names appear on our age-group printouts. Enrolment forms are available to take home, but remember that proof of children's ages(such as Plunket Book) will be required.
UNIFORMS
Because on increases in the price of materials, the cost of shorts is now $22.00 and the shirts are $20.00. For those who have already ordered, we will honour the old price. As previously stated, we do not intend to or make any profit from the uniforms.
We also sell club T-shirts (a white shirt with the club logo) - see Dianne Larsen for details. We place an order with the supplier every time we have 10 confirmed orders from parents.
COLGATE GAMES
The entry forms can be collected from the office along with information about the motel that the club has booked at Wanganui. As the official closure date at Wanganui is 17 November, we have only two club nights [tonight and next Monday] to accept the entries.
TRAINING
Hamilton Hawks have written us a letter inviting our 12-14 year olds to their various coaching sessions on a regular basis. There seems to be something on most days of the week. A copy of their coaching programme, and the name of the coaches, is in a handout available to our older children tonight.
RIBBON DAY
Last Saturday, the Ribbon Day was at Kawerau. We had 10 children present. However, the weather was overcast and at lunchtime had developed into showers interspersed with light drizzle. As the prospect of better weather seemed unlikely, the afternoon programme was cancelled and everyone left for home.
This Saturday, the Ribbon Day is at Strathmore Park, Tokoroa. Its location is shown on the attached map. The club tent will be present. For those viewing this newsletter on E-mail, the park is at the southern end of Tokoroa - at the southern end of town turn right off State Highway 1 on to Balmoral Drive. The park is on the left just past the railway line. The Ribbon Day of 17 November will be at the Papamoa Sports Ground, south of and adjoining the Papamoa Primary School. A map (and directions) will be provided with next week's newsletter.
