Take, Eat and Drink...
A day for Pastoral Assistants and any others
who are or will be assisting to administer communion.
The day is designed to help us:
understand the importance of the eucharist in the life of the
Church
appreciate the significance of the role of those who assist
understand the practical things assistants need to give attention
to
practice and gain confidence in administering the elements
This training is a requirement for those licensed to assist with
communion in the Diocese. While the licence for Pastoral Assistants
includes authorisation to assist, they need to have done the training.
Other lay people need to be put forward by their incumbent for
authorisation by the Diocesan Bishop. Again, all those assisting
are expected to have done the training. While some training has
been done locally, this is the first time for some time that a
Diocesan day has been organised. This is an opportunity therefore
to 'catch up' with this training. It is being organised by Chris
Peck, Co-ordinator of Adult Education and Training. The cost for
the day, including a light lunch, is £5.
Application forms will be sent out with the Diocesan Mailing
in September, or ring Chris or Lulu Pelly on 01604 887042 after
the end of September to be sent one.

I've heard and seen lots of good things recently about PAs
working quietly in their Parishes - well done. I feel proud to
be part of this and to know that you are putting your training
to good use for God.

TRAINING ADMINISTRATOR
Since the move from Peterborough
House to Bouverie Court there has been no-one doing administration
for the various training courses. Elaine Symne has been holding
the fort, along with managing the centre. We are happy to announce
that Lulu Pelly (a Reader from Potterspury) has been appointed
to work with Chris Peck as training administrator/secretary. Lulu
starts at the end of September. It will take some time to sort
out her workload so Pat Lake will continue to do the administration
for licensed PAs for now but if you ring Bouverie after the end
of September it may be Lulu that you will be talking to.
