Only Slightly Philosophical
4/25/07 - One of these days, I'll fix all of this mediocrity mucking about in cyberspace, but for now I shall leave it as is. That, and I'm not as talented with HTML as I used to be. If you're interested, I've got something new up: TSEdiot's Crazy Short Film of Formatting Goodness. And I'm not afraid to post it! Mostly because no one would want to steal it.
11/10/06 - So melissafan.com went by the wayside, which is ok because it kinda sucked and didn't do much. This kinda sucks too, but I'm lazy and have few HTML skills. That's what Myspace, Facebook and LiveJournal are for.
01/04/05 - Another year, another entry, and I have been a total slacker. This isn't to say I haven't been doing anything, but as you can see, Nano came and went and I updated the link all of once. But I've never had 50,000 words of such utter randomness. I have 50,000 words of no plot! How did this happen?
12/01/04 - I win! Haha! I got to 50,000 words! And can you believe that it's not done? Or near done? Or remotely done? But I love NaNo. And the cute guys in my writing group. Both of them. But I digress. I know my promise is worth as much as a deutschmark in Tokyo, but I swear I'll get more up. Or not. It's hard to tell. 11/12/04 - Life is good. NaNo is good. I've got quite few more words done, but none quite yet postable. Not very "linear." But that's okay, you weren't finished reading yet, were you? 11/6/04 - So of course as soon as the novelling begins, so also begins the procrastination. Without fail. Like, I'm constantly imagining how to reorganise my homepage so it's less long and more useful to the few people who come here. Mostly no people but at least I'm trying. I just wish my content made more sense. My profound apologies. Back to NaNo. 11/3/04 - So NaNo is going quite well - I have posted an update on the NaNoWriMo Saga page, but it is nothing interesting. The novel looks like an amoeba - a really sick and worthless amoeba. Not to insult amoebas. Shutting up. 10/21/04 - Feel the NaNoNess... Ooh, I can't imagine November without NaNo. *Sigh* 10/20/04 - So who's surprised? I'm actually writing the next day. I'm just excited for National Novel Writing Month. I can't say enough great things about National Novel Writing Month. That could be a whole novel. See what I'm doing and support me. Or don't. Whatever. 10/19/04 - Hello again! What luck that I am posting again. Yes, I have begun NaNoWriMo anew, and this year's novel, Walking Privaledges, shall be genius. I hope. Anywho, check back later. I'll post more details and such. (Promises, promises.) 02/17/04 - I saw Monster yesterday. What an amazing and interesting film. And creepy. In that sweet sort of way. I think it's something everyone should see. It's brilliant. If I post an "official" review, it'll be here. It's really f-in' good. 01/30/04 - I have registered with the BBC's Get Writing under the name olivian (as in Olivia in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night). I put links to my works All of My Directions and Addiction. The Get Writing site is an excellent tool for writers, especially those with limited disk space or multiple writing areas (useful for me since I am at school). They've got lessons and excercises and you can save interesting bits on your pin board as well as post work, even if it is in progress because you can always re-edit it later. I'm sorry pirate drinks aren't up yet. They're coming. It has been brought to my attention that this website is boring and pointless. Well, it is boring. And pointless. Pointless I can't fix. It's only real point is to be of interest to the people I know in the real world who like to read this. There's not many of them. What's funny to me is that as soon as I acknowledged that my site is boring, I've actually gotten several e-mails to that effect. So be warned - this isn't interesting. 01/08/04 - I obviously have a habit of writing an entry every year (bad joke) but this year I resolve to do it more often since I received word that there are those who do visit my site. Amazing. Anyhow, my recent exploit has been on Cinematic Aspect Ratios, random and useless information that has little interest to most peoples' everyday lives. Except mine. Since if film didn't exist, I wouldn't be writing now. I'd be dead. Really. No just kidding. No I'm not. Anywho, I would have been happy to more movie reviews but I haven't seen more films. Actually, that's not true - I saw Calendar Girls and it was really cute. But I don't really have anything to say about it other than that it was well made and well worth seeing. I did have a Pirates of the Caribbean New Years complete with a full line of film-inspired beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I also refer to it as a rum party since the only alcohol used to create said drinks was rum. Eventually that link will actually bring up the list, but I can't find it and I'll have to type it in later. Go watch the movie while you wait. 12/24/03 - It's been over a year since I wrote last, and hopefully this shall reach my friends. Things are quite fantastic with me; I'll be transferring to UCLA in fall of '05 (yay transfer agreements). Right now I'm spending my time at community college, taking 27 units each semester (and it's fun!) and planning to go to film school. I participated in National Novel Writing Month again, but have not posted any part of my novel just yet. I'll get that up since it's clear people visit but no one e-mails, votes, or signs the guestbook. I have no *real* job to speak of but I keep my days busy with much toil and writing for my portfolio (since UCLA wants me to prove I am worthy). Anyhow, if you want more you can email me and ask, talk, whatever. Though I'm rarely on IM, my screenname is GryffindorProf42. My new kick is movie reviews, so my first one is available for The Return of the King. I also went to the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Tuesday event (click here and scroll down to October 2 to read about it) and there was even an article in the local paper on the event. (Yes, that's me in the photo. Not the best but you can live with it.) Enjoy! 11/06/02 - More months, etc. I'm taking a break from school, and I'm sure UA is better for it. In other news, so I can have an excuse to keep my page up, I've decided to participate in National Novel Writing Month where you have to write a novel in just a month, no matter how crappy, tasteless, or just plain stupid. Since I'm on a T.S. Eliot kick, my user name on the site is TSEdiot-42 (you can even look it up and see my progress or notes I've posted), and the working title is Wasted Lands, ha ha ha. Go read my progress today and every day. Eventually I'll put up a poll and you can evaluate what I'm doing and even suggest what should happen next. 05/21/01 - So it's been awhile since I updated. Actually, it's been about four months. Since some of you are loyal, I apologize for being slack-assed. But deal with it. Soon I shall sell my soul to Blockbuster and become an average working class citizen using my extraordinary powers of geek-like movie knowledge. Much more so than that lame Marc Edward Heuck on "Beat the Geeks." Then again, that might provide the perfect pasttime for staying and waiting to close at 2 AM. God Bless America. Anyhow, as I know you are loyal, you shall later see my greatest works from the new semester with the near God-like High Priest Patrick Michael Finn. The second paper has taken me a long time because I conducted focus groups. The third paper I have already turned in, but the only copy on the system is a first draft, and none shall see it until I have it in all of its glory. Until then, revisit some of your old favourites, take the old polls until you're blue in the face, and come back after finals week.
Essays from my first semester as a college student.
And here's work from second semester:
Here! Have some fun with old stuff! And these are essays that I had to write in order to pass classes. So bad I didn't even give them polls.
Other Pages (as pointless as this one)
I'm just bored, a philosopher without a philosophy, religious without religion, in love without my love. I'm not a post-modernist, but I am fascinated, like how I'm fascinated by performance artists, and Mormons. I hope you've enjoyed what I and others have said.
