Here is the love story that brought me to life and made me "The American Dream."
In the beginning I looked like just any ordinary bike and was the latest model craze on the street. The bike offered to the public in 1998 was in two different colors and did not have all the ammenities of the Venture or Gold Wing, but it had the appeal to a group of people right in the middle of the Cruiser and the Dresser class of bikes.
This is what I looked like:
1998 Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe
I had one owner before Terry "Bulldog" Jones discovered me, or should I say fell in love with me. My original owner was kind to me and treated me well with some nice weekend rides, but he felt the need to trade up to the 1600 Road Star at the same time as his two son's bought one about a year and a half ago. Lucky for me, I was put into a dealership that Bulldog was stopping by to look at bikes. I think I may have blinded him, and I was worried at first, he came over to me and had a seat immediately. I didn't notice him looking at any other bikes. I was worried for a few moments because he didn't say anything at all, and just continued to stare at me. I know I called him to come over when he walked in the door, but I figured he would have at least said something. Well after the few moments of staring at me, he said I will take her. The sales man said he would have to draw up the papers and run a credit application because I was a used bike, or if Bulldog would like, he could check out some of the newer bikes while he ran the application. The salesman was starting to make me mad, Bulldog was perfectly happy with me and the salesman wanted him to sit on another bike, just because it was new. Apparently the salesman never got to ride a bike with as much beauty and life as me. Bulldog told him to run his credit check but would probably finance through his bank. The salesman came back after about 30 minutes and said the finance company declined finance due to the amount of available credit Bulldog had. I was really getting depressed that I found someone that really loved me and wanted me with so much passion, that I wished I could have just been free to whom I chose to go home with. But Bulldog was not down for the count, he told the sales guy to take me off the floor and that he would have a check from his bank to pay for me the next day.
Well, as you can imagine, one year later and here I am:
Classy, Eye Catcher, and Show Winner.
