Well
the story starts along time before Falling Short ever was created. It
all began when Matt and a guy named Quentin ( I don't think thats
spelled right) wanted to start a punk band. Soon after they found
Dave, a long haired hippy, and they formed Push Button. Dave was on
drums, Matt and Quentin both played bass and guitar, and Quentin on
vocals. Push Button was supposed to be a punk band, but ended up being
a rock band, comparative to The Matthew Good Band.
Push Button soon played their first show at a fire department that was
meant for kids to hang out at, sponsored by the Church next door.
After the show they deiced to get a full time bass player and got Bret
to join. Push Button then played a couple of shows around the area,
one which was at Dave and Brets, school, for a crowd of about 400.
After a bit Push button wanted to get "serious", so they
changed their name to Beyond Reason. Beyond Reason ended up playing
Dave and Brets school for a second time. After a while they finally
got to play a show at the Pavilion. The show went really well. A while
later the band didn't really get along with Bret anymore and this
brought in Greg. Gregs initiation was to kick out Bret, thus he did.
When Greg entered the band, Dave, Matt and Greg didn't want to play in
a rock band anymore, they wanted to be in a real punk band. So they
searched for a new singer and found a guy who looked Punk, enters
Mark. The three practiced with Mark and it went well, so then Dave and
Quentin talked and Quentin left. Thus brings our story to the creation
of Section 12.
Section 12 was a punk band that was influenced by bands like , Good
Riddance, Lagwagon, Jersey, and more. Section 12 played many shows and
got a small crowd following, mostly just the sackville scene. After
about a year, stuff happened with Mark, and he ended up being kicked
out. A good friend of the bands, Scotty took over the vocal duties and
the style of Section 12 changed a bit. Section 12 then Changed their
name to Falling Short. Falling Short played shows for about a year,
and their crowds got a little bigger, and soon they wanted to get a
fuller sound with the band, so they deiced to add a second guitarist,
Jason was a friend of the bands and played guitar, so it was a perfect
match. Soon afterward, Greg, had to move away, and the band had no
idea what to do for a bassist. Soon they found a guy named Evan to
play for a bit, his bass skills weren't all that good but him and
scotty had good chemistry when it came to vocals. Soon Evan left the
band and the guys were screwed again. But out of the blue, they bands
mascot, Wayne dressed in a cat suit, expressed interest in playing
bass. He learned the songs and surprised each one of us. He then
became our full time bassist.
After that, Falling Short played many away shows, Truro, PEI, and
Moncton. During the time Falling Short had many guest members, such as
Robert, and Morgan. One time the band played a show with only 3/5 of
the band, the other two gone to Hellfest. Soon the end. Falling Short
finally after about two years later released a CD, entitled "Act
Your Rage", the CD was recorded in Dave's basement after he got a
digital 8 track for christmas. The Band recorded it with out any
recording experience, and did the duplication and cover on their own.
They also were featured on two local comps, "The Harbour
Mix", and "Here Comes The East Coast".....After about
two and a half years, complications occurred in the band between Dave
and Wayne and Wayne then left the band, Morgan took over bass duties,
but then Dave decided it was time to move on, and quit as well. But
before they called it quits they played one last show, they got Wayne
back in and played their last show. Everyone lived happily ever after.
