Those with iman (faith), those who are Jews, and the Christians and Sabaeans, all who have iman in Allah and the Last Day and act rightly, will have their reward with their Lord. They will feel no fear and will know no sorrow. (Surat al-Baqara: 62)

My heartfelt condolences to the victims of the London bombings, and the British people in general. In these hard times, average Muslims like me stand with you. At the same time, spare a moment to think about those that die in Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine and Kashmir every single day - deaths that the international media largely ignores.

Terrorism is the most crucial issue facing the world today. Every week there is news of terrorist acts; specifically what is referred to as "Islamic" terrorism. Today, when you say the word Islam, the first image that comes to most minds is that of a bearded man, waving an AK-47, shouting "JIHAD! ALLAH-O-AKBAR!"

Yet, Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. About a quarter of the word's population; 1.5 billion human beings; call themselves Muslims. Even more surprisingly, it is the fastest growing religion in the US and Europe as well.

Why? When there is so much violence in the world attributed to Muslims, clearly, and Islam, hintingly, why does Islam appeal to so many?

Is Islam really a terrorist religion? Does it condone and encourage the violence we see on our televisions, on CNN, BBC and FOX, where it is drummed into us that this is Islamic terrorism and Islamic fundamentalism (i.e. following the fundamentals of Islam)? New York, Bali, Madrid and now London-is this Islam in practice, the religion of one in four people?

Why do people do such things? What drives them to extremism?

Is there an answer to this madness; a solution that would put an end to this?

These are some of the questions this site looks at. However, it is primarily meant to be a portal, with links to some of the best, and most unbiased (of paramount importance these days), websites about this issue in particular and Islam in general.

And it is We Who have constructed the heaven with might, and verily, it is We Who are steadily expanding it. (Qur'an, 51:47) (The fact that the universe is expanding was discovered about 50 years ago; the Qur'an was revealed 1400 years ago amongst the most backward people of the time, to a person who could neither read nor write).)
