Ashes on My Ski
ASHES ON MY SKIN
By: Reindeer
There are ashes on my skin,
And the sky is afire,
Winds blowing in desperation,
Fanning flames of such heat

I look to the east,
And see the sun burning,
The sea boiling,
Steam rising and pretending to be fog,
And there are ashes on my skin

Voices are calling to me,
Telling me to run,
But I am stunned by the desolation,
The flames are leaving behind
I knew that tree,
I ran in that field,
I held that flower to my nose,
And breathed in its sweet fragrance,
Now it lies on my skin,
Strange papery thing it is,
So light,
So damn light
Its life is gone,
My world is burning,
And the ashes are lying on my skin,
While voices are telling me to run
But I am too stunned,
My feet refuse to move,
I hear the cries of life,
Screaming in despair
A woman grabs my arm,
Her eyes much too wide,
I can smell her fear,
Run you fool she hisses at me
To where? I whisper,
More to myself than her,
Where can I go now?
And another feathery ash,
Lands on my skin
