10.05.03 - It has been quite a while since our last update. As is a common effect of the passing of time, things have changed. Fortunately, they have changed for the better. Although it is not without regret that we must inform you: Shaun Luu is no longer a part of Marrakech. It has been a long time coming, really, so it did not come as much of a surprise to him or to us. The reasons are solid, and mutually understood, so it would be a needless chore to list them out here. But fret not, brothers and sisters, there is an up-side to all things. Our lack of activity during the month of September was due largely to the fact that we were acquainting ourselves with our newest addition, former Days in Vain frontman Nate Darnell. Nate's passion for music and politics, and his unyielding friendship to us for the past couple of years put him first in line for the spot. We are grateful that he accepted. Incidentally, we just played our first show with Nate. It was also our first time in Auburn. Go figure. We had a lot of fun, played well, and spread a message that we hope was received by those in attendance. So until next time, use your hands for something more productive than manipulating your "mouse" in order to explore the meaningless nonsense that oozes from the Internet. (This webpage and all those associated with it are exceptions, of course!)
08.16.03 - Quick update: we have been added onto the August 29 show at the Planet 505 with Freya, the Funeral, and Found Dead Hanging. All the info you could possibly want is in the "Shows" section. And don't forget about this Friday, the 22, at the Wescott. See you there.
08.13.03 - We have recently acquired a band e-mail account. For booking, conversation, debates, etc. send mail to bloodofmarrakech@hotmail.com. Ted's e-mail address has also been updated. See you all at the Wescott on the 22.
08.10.03 - Well, we were very close to having a show with a reunited Path of Resistance; but they failed to reunite. Talk about being let down. We did however play an amazing show on August 2, which marked the return of Mike Morrisette to the band. All of the bands did really well, and we played and performed better than we ever have. Thanks to Keith for putting on such a good show. On August 22, we will be playing with The Last Season (ex-God Below), at the Wescott Community Center. Complete information is in the "Shows" section, so get going. Also, the lyrics to our newest song: "Representative Democracy at Work: Would You Like Your Coffin in S, M, or L?" have been added. Read up. Knowledge is power.
07.15.03 - In Montreal, Ontario, Canada from July 26-30, there are massive demonstrations being planned in opposition to the W.T.O. (World Trade Organization). If you are interested in helping out and/or taking part, you can go to this site for more information. In the past, demonstrators have been extremely successful in shutting down meetings between these plutocrats. If we all come together, we can do it again.
In band news, we had a blast playing our first Hellfest. We sang along with a lot of old friends, and we also made some new ones. Much gratitude to everyone that picked up a copy of our new E.P.: “Round Two: Death on the Installment Plan”. We hope that you enjoy it. Just a reminder: Marrakech will not be playing out for the rest of July, and probably for much of August. We are taking this time off to re-incorporate old blood into the band, and write some new music. Stay true.
06.27.03 - Good news: our shirts have recently arrived! If you were at the Majority Rule or Suicide Note shows, then you may have seen them (and hopefully picked one up). If not, no worries; supply is still plentiful. In addition, another recent arrival has been made by our van! Yes, gone are the days of the Suburban. These are the days of the Fuckin' Van! Unfortunately, it was not ready in time for the Throwdown show and we could not make it. We apologize for our absence, and promise to make it up sometime in the future. Finally, we have decided on a title for our new four song E.P.: "Round Two: Death on the Installment Plan". The wonderful and illustrious Brad Stevens will be handling cover art duties. Expect it to drop at Hellfest. That is all.
06.05.03 - A quick announcement: we have been added to the June 13 show at the Fulton VFW with the mighty Suicide Note. This is our second time playing with this band, and they are something that you will not want to miss. In addition, a new band featuring the ex-vocalist from our previous moniker The Far and Away will be debuting their noise. For complete information, you can mosey on over to the "Shows" section. See you all at Majority Rule this Friday!
06.03.03 - A few quick updates: First, we picked up the final copy of the recording on Sunday; all that I can say is, "duck and cover." Don't understand? No worries, you will soon. Secondly, don't forget about the Majority Rule show on Friday! For complete information on the show head on over to the "Shows" section, which you will arrive at by negotiating the limb situation on the little thing to your left. Lastly, a few changes have been made to the June 24 show in Rochester: it will now be at the Penny Arcade, and Throwdown will be headlining. That’s right, Throwdown. Expect the mosh to be in full-effect. Until next time, duck and cover.
05.30.03 - Good news: we have finished recording our sophomore effort! Mastering should be completed by this weekend. Track listing is as follows:
1. The Hole in Your Head Should be neutralized by the Overwhelming Sense of Fulfillment 2. Being a Drone Isn't So Bad 3. Death on the Installment Plan, Or All At Once Like a Stockbroker Mid-life Crisis Suicide on the Next Black Monday? 4. Sold with a Capital S-E-L-L-O-U-T
We have yet to decide on a title, but expect a post when we do. Release date is set for July 4, which is the first day of Hellfest. Guest vocals from the likes of: Hex (The Funeral), Josh (Bodies in the Gears of the Apparatus), and Neight (Days in Vain). In site news, contact information has been moved from the "Links" section, to where our names are listed in the "Media" section. If you want to get in touch with anyone in the band, go there for e-mail addresses. That's all, folks!
05.13.03 - A few quick updates:
1. "Links" - A far more thorough listing of "Action" links have been added, finally. 1, 2, 3... Go!
2. "Media" - Except for the addition of our newest song's lyrics; nothing-new here. Expect some photos of us from the Daughters show soon, courtesy of Dave Is Cool.
3. "Merch" - We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our t-shirts. As soon as they come in, we will have them available at all of our upcoming shows. For this first batch, we ordered a very limited supply, so get them while the getting is good! I'll put up a front and back view as soon as I get a digital one myself.
4. "Shows" - Just a reminder, this Saturday is our show with Breather Resist in Fulton. Make sure you head on over to the Bullhead Point Pavilion at 12pm sharp. In addition, complete info for the June 7 show in New Jersey is up. We cannot wait! Finally, we have another show in Rochester on June 24. Building on Fire, Fordirelifesake, Saving Throw, and more! Rock.
05.13.03 – It’s been awhile since our last update, quite a bit of news to report on. Our past few shows have went really well. New Jersey was great, and we look forward to heading back down there again in June. Thank you to everyone that came out to our shows with City of Caterpillar and Daughters. Hope you all had fun. We have another one coming up with Breather Resist and From Hell. It's this Saturday, May 17. Check out the "Shows" section for more info. In other news, we will be heading back into Noise Floor Productions at the end of May, this time to record four brand new songs. We are all anticipating the yet untitled E.P.’s release; you should expect it in time for Hellfest. Speaking of: Hellfest dot com is up. Make sure you stop by for the complete line-up of bands, schedule, ticket prices, etc. Finally, lyrics to our newest song, “Sold With a Capital S-E-L-L-O-U-T” have been added in the “Media” section. Click the appropriate link on the little baby robot to your left and go read them, as well as all of the others. Knowledge is power. Arm yourself.
04.23.03 - Majority Rule show added! Info is up in the "Shows" section. This weekend we are making our way down to rock the home state of Kevin Smith (Go Devils!) with our friends in Ed Gein. Lots of fun is sure to be had. All hail Hex!
04.09.03 - Updates Galore!
1. "Links" - Contact information for all of us has been added. Feel free to write us love letters or hate mail, just as long as you write us.
2. "Media" - I finally remembered to list who we actually are. Start a fan club.
3. "Merch" - Nothing new here.
4. "Shows" - City Of Caterpillar show added. What more? It's FREE!
04.07.03 - Well, have we not had it put to us? A rock filled weekend, and then... blah. Thursday night, the ice started falling. This led to the canceling of the Plattsburg show on Friday. Awesome. Two powerless days later, and we are all wondering about the status of the Oswego show. Then the word comes that it is still on. Awesome! So, minus TWISM forgetting the new buttons, we had a pretty good time. Ed Gein and Found, Dead... Hanging rocked the place. Thanks to Scott for hooking us up. Yes.
In site news, we will have many more links for the “Action” section up by tomorrow. The only remotely good thing that this ice storm has done is to cancel school for at least two days. Might as well take advantage of it! Also, expect quotes to accompany all of the lyrics in the near future. If you have the EP, you know what I mean. If you do not have it: get it. The purpose of the quotes is to add some more incite into the particular subject of each song. At the same time, they may serve to launch interest into the source of each quote as well. Knowledge is power. Arm yourself.
04.02.03 - This coming weekend is full of rock. Friday, we will be making our way up to Plattsburg. After the show, we plan to beat Ted Casper at bowling. Saturday is an off day, and then on Sunday, we will be playing in Oswego. Info on both shows is up in the "Shows" section. Speaking of, a show on April 10 in Rochester has been added. Can you say, "Ed Gein?" Yes. Finally, we have a lot more "Action" links to put up; I have added them numerous times now, and each time something goes wrong. Therefore, so as not to get dismayed, I have decided to just wait a little while, and then try at it again. I hope that they will be up soon. Let's get free.
03.28.03 - The Bath show was fun. We had a nice drive down. We got lost for a few minutes, so we invaded a barn and "marked our territory." As for how the show went: the response from the Bath crew was great! Jason kicked some dude in the face (what an asshole), so the dude got a free CD. Nice! Skare Tactic was some good hardcore, and The Red Death is metal as fuck. The only low point would have to be the monster in the woods A.K.A. King Of The Hill People. It is our opinion that this thing out of fear controls everyone in Bath. However, we hope to play there again, so maybe we will find it, fight it, and put an end to its reign of terror. Graham and Jason both deserve a “thank you.” Thank you.
03.21.03 - The website is
basically complete. There is still some more information to be added, but the basics
are here. We have a show coming up on March 25, with Examination Of The... and
The Red Death. We are all excited for our first trip to Bath.
More
importantly, the current state of affairs regarding "Operation Iraqi Freedom" is
most upsetting. Despite all the protests from around the world, and the lack of
international support, the Bush administration has gone forward with its
military campaign. Claiming pre-emptive self-defense against the "rogue state"
of third-world country Iraq, the United States and its "Coalition of the
willing" have become the real aggressors. We must continue to protest this war
with all our effort; if we come together, the voiceless of the world can be
heard. Our hearts go out to the people of Iraq, and to any other innocent lives
that may be lost due to this act of state terrorism. Brothers and sisters, you
are in our hearts.
03.20.03 - Official website launch on March 20,
2003. Ted Casper rules!
