Professor Yaz became interested in the club scene in 1992 when he started getting to know some of the local DJs in his area. From that time on, he knew that spinning was something he wanted to be a part of on a much larger scale. He immediately went to a local pawn shop and bought his first set of turntables.

Mostly influenced by old school hip hop, he started out by spinning break beats which he, eventually, turned into his own style he labels as "Scientific Space Funk".

Starting out spinning at various house parties, he quickly moved up the ranks spinning at well known venues such as Firestone, Simons, and Cafe 11 in florida before moving to the Washington D.C. area where he spun at Flood, The Zone, Buz, Believe, The spot, Fluid, Junx and The edge. All that while hosting his own party for a year and a half.

Professor Yaz has spun with Simply Jeff, hudahudia, John Acquaviva, DJ Hype, DJ Icey, Deep Dish, East Coast Boogie men, Fuzz, Tom B., Dieselboy and AK1200, just to name a few. He has also been affiliated with such crews as The syndicate, Minining Vinyl, Scott Henry (of Buz fame) and Kingsize records.

Spinning for five years on a proffesional level, he spinks breaks, funk and house, though he prefers breaks as it lets him be a bit more creative in his style.

There is no doubt that with his drive and style, Professor Yaz will become a household name in no time at all.
