| Sesa Goa Bungalow
in Althino, Panjim. It sits on a small plateau. About 200 m along the
little road to the right, there is a very steep escarpment which has a
stairway that drops down to the main business section of Panjim.
Our security guard stands at
attention.

The Radio Station

The All India Radio station.
Going up the hill is Shrinivas Dempo's bungalow (another iron ore miner),
then an empty Sesa bungalow ( a small very old Portuguese house), a small
road then our bungalow.

The rear of our
bungalow. The deck on the left is where we spend most of our outdoor time.

The lounge room
with some dining table chairs shown in the bottom right.

The maids quarters
shared by Maria and Philomena. The green shed in the far left is the generator.
We lose power very regularly so our generator then cuts in. The computer,
air conditioners and fridges all have surge protection.

Maria, Carolyn
and Philomena.
First
Meal

Carolyn moved
in on 8th April but I was then in the US and didn't have my first night
until a week later. We normally have a curry, dahl, vegetable dish and
rice. The red wine is local - rather average but the white wine is very
drinkable.
Mossie
Protection

Carolyn keeping
up the quinine level on the rear deck.
Security
at Work

Our security guard
came across this small cobra. There is a snake collecting service in Panjim
but by the time we had sorted out that we couldn't make contact, the guard
had solved the problem. The guards are usually ex-Nepalese soldiers.
Althino
BBQ

5 years ago Chris
Brown had asked for a BBQ to be made. This blue enameled 44 gallon drum
turned up but was unusable. I redesigned, had it modified and on Sun June
1, 2003, the first ever BBQ occurred at the Sesa Bungalow.
Mango
Parasite

Mr Patil, the
Company environmentalist, found our mango trees were infested with a very
nasty parasite. So Philomena's husband was hired to cut the parasite out.
A very major job. He is at the top of this tree.

The local villages
gathered to collect some of the branched for firewood.
Maria
Preparing Coconut

Maria preparing fresh coconut
for cooking.

We had some chairs upstairs
reupholstered. A guy turned up with his sewing machine and off-siders
and did the job on the spot.
Mangoes

We weren't the only ones enjoying
our mangoes.
The Corner Store

We have a corner store across
the road and down one house. Handy but often doesn't have what we want.
Neighbours

The city and the country live
side by side. Just past the radio station is the remnants of a village
is tucked away on the side of the escapement - with plenty of pigs.
View From Study Window

It nice to sit
at the desk and see the monsoon rain pelt down.
