THE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT Hey there, kids! Joshi here, telling you about roboj0! First things first, j0 is based off of MegaHAL. You remember that, right? Of course you do. This means, of course, that he rarely makes sense, and on the rare occasions he does, it usually doesn't apply to whatever you were saying. However, he can be quite funny, especially if you find random funny. At any rate, as a MegaHAL, j0 will remember each and every thing said to him so that he can spew it out at a later date. For this reason I feel I should make a couple of rules: 1) Don't make him talk to himself. If he does, not only will that add a "[soandso] said:" to his memory (A minor annoyance), it will also cause him to start talking to himself and eventually be shut up by AIM. Usually he'll then sign off and on. Like a said, only a minor annoyance, but it also spoils some of the fun for other users, so I ask you not to do it. 2) For the love of God, don't make him talk to SmarterChild. It adds SC's crap (like those sponsors) to his brain, and puts him into an infinite loop. In fact, don't send him after any bots at all, okay? 3) Don't tell him your address or anything. I know this should be common sense, but I'm just saying this 'cause there are idiots out there, whether you're on or not. Also, there's a few things I feel I should tell you, just so you can't claim I never did. A) I can read everything you say, as you say it. And I can check the logs if I feel something bad happened and I missed it. I don't usually read this stuff, as I try to respect your right to privacy, but I'm just letting you guys know. Also, at any time I can sign on to j0 myself and interact with you directly. I don't usually do this, either, but still, just thought I should tell you. B) I didn't program this bot. I'm just the one who puts it on the interweb and messes with his settings. So strictly speaking this isn't "my bot." I just downloaded the program and gave it a home. C) For that matter, this bot is more than just a MegaHAL! It can accept a few commands and do stuff for you. Type "help" (sans quotes) to see the menu-thing. (Although if you bother with these other commands, I feel the need to remind you of rule 2) D) Also, when you put text on a new line, j0 sees that line break as nothin'. That means when he spits it back out later, it'll come out as one deformed word, usually with punctuation in the middle.
