Is Bombay Duck a Man Thing?

I've got be honest here... When some one buys some Bombay Duck from me, I just think.. brilliant , that's another few quid in. I don't usually go into deep considerations about gender , motivations for purchase and all that kind of thing.

However, a while back I could hardly fail to notice the lack of women who ordered. And for me, the natural order of things is that for every male there ought to be one woman, at the very least.

So I sat back and remembered the many years ago that I first bought BDuck at my local Indian takeaway. One and a half pieces per serving in a brown paper bag plus the usual Prawn Dansak. Then head for home, telly on, feet up on the coffee table, can of Stela, and get stuck in.

And as I remembered I did just wonder if that was lots of people's experience, and if that was just what lots of blokes did?

Away from 25 September - 6th October 2006
Hi everyone

I do other things in addition to Indian Fisheries and Bombay Duck.

One of these is acting. I'll be working on the film 'The Other Boleyn Girl', Scarlett Johannsen, Natalie Portman..., from Monday 23rd September to Friday of the following week, 5th October.

On these days I'll be on location from early to late, and will be unable to fulfill orders except at the weekends.

Please bear this in mind when you order Bombay Duck.

Soon be back to the usual rapid service.

Andrew

Indian Fisheries - the New Name for 2pieR
Hi everyone

As you can see from here and the website, I've changed the name of 2pieR to Indian Fisheries. I've done this because of , well, creeping conventionality.

I liked the name 2pieR, and always have a little grin when I look at it. However, I did begin to wonder if it was perhaps the most suitable for a small company which sells Bombay Duck.

So I've changed the name to Indian Fisheries. Hope you like it.

And as always your comments are most welcome.

Bombay Duck Roasted
Until now, I've only ever cooked Bombay Duck by frying, either from dry or after soaking it.

I decided to try roasting. Partly because I'd never done that before. And also because, when years ago I would buy Bombay Duck as part of my curry takeaways, the Duck always was very crisp and crunchy.

This was all the way through, and with little clue that it was in fact fish. When I cook it at home, by frying, it comes out as crisp and crunchy on the outside and part way in. Inside I can taste the fish, and the texture is of fish. This has very much grown on me.

However, I've been curious as to whether the way Bombay Duck used to come from Indian takeaways was intended, traditional, or just accidently happened. So the other night I turned my oven up to 200, and roasted a piece for 10+ minutes, or was it 20+. Anyway, when I pulled it out, it looked OK.It was very crisp, all the way through.

However, the taste was pretty awful, really bitter; which usually means it has overcooked. So I'm going to have more go's at this, see how it turns out.
