Useful Things to Know Before You Visit Japan
only people who speak Japanese and broken English are
allowed to work at airports, hotels, customs, subway stations, and other common
tourist destinations.
whatever you do, do not jay-walk. There will be
(literally) hundreds of locals to gawk at the stupidity of tourists.
if you are Asian, but not Japanese, do not try to
convince salespeople that you don't understand Japanese. They won't believe
you.
if you happen to come across a McDonald's, you may notice that the only people
eating there are Westerners.
before you leave your hotel room, make sure you know how to flush the
toilet.
