FLIPS, ROLLS, AND MORE

This page has a few odd things like flips, rolls, and kipups just for the fun of it. These kinds of things are like creating art for arts sake. Also, it helps me get in tune with my body when I instruct it to do exactly what I want it to do. If you scroll down the page, you will see the video clips.

One of my favorite moves because it easily can become a tie-in to ground fighting. A shoulder roll followed by a windmill kick. I have also heard this kick called a shaolin wind flip kick. Whatever it is, I think it looks cool. The first time I saw the windmill kick was on Drunken Master with Jackie Chan. I spent a long time trying to make it work. One thing I did figure out on my own was that the kick was way easier to do if you get momentum going first with a shoulder roll.

This is a frontflip. Hmmmm. Not much else to say

This one is a little tougher. Here I linked two flips together. First I did what I call a twist flip which is really a modified cartwheel where you land forward. Then if you land that exactly right your momentum is perfect for the frontflip that comes next. Naturally the difficult part is landing the twist flip in such a way that you don't lose or spoil your momentum.

This move was really tough for me and took a while to get. It's called a kipup, and the clip is really self explanatory.
