Sai Forms

Basic Movements - 1, 1 Advance, 2, 2 Advance, 3, 3 Advance, 4, 4 Advance, 5, and 5 Advance.

Chon-Ji - 19 moves: Means literally the "Heaven the Earth". It is, in the Orient, interpreted as the creation of the world beginning of human history, therefore, it is the initial pattern played by the beginner. This pattern consists of two similar parts; one to represent the Heaven and the other the Earth.

Dan-Gun - 21 moves: Named after the holy Dan-Gun, the legendary founder of Korea in the year 2333 BC.

Do-San - 24 moves: The pseudonym of a the patriot Ahn Ch'ang Ho (1876-1938) who devoted his entire life to furthuring the education of Korea and it's independent movement.

Won-Hyo - 28 moves: The noted monk who introduced Buddhism to the Sila Synasty in the year 680 AD.

Yul-Gok - 38 moves: The pseudonym of a great philosopher and scholar Yil (1536-1584 AD.) nicknamed the "Confusious of Korea". The 38 movements refer to his birthplace on the 38th latitude and pattern diagram represents "scholar".

Joong-Gun - 32 moves: Named after patriot An Joong-Gun who assassinated Hiro-Bumi Ho, the first Japanese Government General of Korea, known as the man who played the leading part of the Korea-Japan merge. The 32 movements in this pattern represent the age which Mr. Ahn was executed in prison in 1910.

Toi-Gye - 37 moves: The pet name of the noted scholar Yi Hwang (16 AD.) An authority on neo-Confucianism. The 37 movements of the pattern refer to his birthplace on 37 degree latitude.

Hwa-Rang - 29 moves: Named after the Hwa-Rang youth group which originated in the Sila Dynasty about 1350 years ago. This group eventually became the actual driving force for the unification of the three kingdoms of Korea. The 29 movements refer to the 29th Infantry Division where Tae Kwon Do developed into maturity.

Choong-Moo - 30 moves: The given name to the great Admiral Yi Sun-Sin of the Yi Dynasty. He was repted to have invented the first armored battleship which was the precursor of the present day submarine in 1592 AD. The reason why this pattern ends up with left hand attack is to symbolize his regrettable death having no chance to show his unrestrained potentially checked by the forced reservation of his loyalty to the king.

Kwang-Gae - 39 moves: Picked after the famous Gwang-Gae To-Wang, the 19th King of the Koguryo Dynasty, who regained all the lost territories including the greater part of Manchuria. The 39 movements refer to his reign for 39 years.

Po-Eun - 36 moves: The pseudonym of a loyal subject Chong Mong-Chu (1400 AD.) who was a famous poet and whose poem "I would not serve a second master though I might be crucified a hundred times" is known to every Korean. He was also a pioneer in the field of Physics.

Ge-Baek - 44 moves: Named after Ge-Baek, a great general in the Baek Je Dynasty (660 AD.). The pattern diagram represents his servere and strict military discipline.

Choong-Jang - 54 moves: The pseudonym given to General Kim Duk Ryang who lived during the Yi Dynasty, fifteenth century. This pattern ends with a left hand attack to symbolize the tragedy of his death at 27 in prison before he was able to reach full maturity.

Ko-Dang - 39 moves: The pseudonym of the patriot Cho Man Sik who dedicated his life to the independence movement and education of his people. The 39 movements signify his times of imprisonment and his birthplace in the 39th parallel.

Sam-Il - 33 moves: Denots the historical date of the independence movement of Korea which began throughout the country on March 1, 1919. The 33 movements in the pattern stands for the 33 patriots who planned the movement.
