The natural attractions around the area are the
glacial lake of Talyllyn, the Bearded Lake located
in Happy Valley, Gwernan Lake and the Cregennnan
Lakes that sit at the foot of Cadair Idris which
at 2,927 feet dominates the surrounding countryside.
If you are a keen golfer then theres the Championship
courses at Aberdyfi just 5 miles away and Harlech 31 miles,
remember your handicap certificate, other courses at
Machynlleth, Dolgellau and Borth all within a 25 mile radius.
Tywyn has a range of facilities including a leisure centre
with swimming pool, cinema, crazy golf course (in season),
childrens play area as well as the beach. Aberdyfi is a
watersport centre for sailing, windsurfing, canoeing you
could even try kite surfing. There is also a bowling green
and tennis courts and another beach you can also take a boat
trip or even charter a fishing boat from here.
Beaches abound and within easy reach are several
European Blue Flag beaches.
Other attractions in the area include the Centre for
Alternative Technology, the Museum of Modern Art and
Celtica at Machynlleth, the craft centre and King Arthur's
Labyrinth at Corris and the Meirion Mill at Dinaw Mawddwy
all within a 20 mile radius. Further afield is Portmerion
Village and Gardens, Llechwedd Slate Caverns, Snowdon Mountain
Railway, Llangollen, Betws-y-Coed and a few castles there Is
Caernarfon, Criccieth, Conwy, Dolwyddelan and Harlech. There are
RSPB reserves at Penmaenpool 14 miles away and at Yns Hir about 20 miles.
