Who deserves the top seat?
Okay, I'm from Oklahoma and I bleed crimson and cream but I have to say that after the Sooners' performance in the Big XII Championship as well as vs. LSU in the big dance, they don't exactly get my vote for number one. Hopefully, Jason White will maintain his Heisman rating and throw worth a flip. Recievers cannot do it all. With the defense losing a few keys (Derrick Strait being the number 1 ouch) it will be strong, but not as strong. Time for some younger guys to step up. LSU, while holding the Sears Trophy with USC, lost a few boys, while not too many, still enough to slip. It is my personal opinion the National Championship should have been LSU vs USC. It is also my belief that LSU would have destroyed USC, but that's me being partial to the South. LSU will remain strong, and they get my vote for first. USC is another team deserving credit for great accomplishments. They lost a few but hey, all teams do. Let's get the younger guys to step up. They may have the potential to fight off everyone else and grabbing a repeat, giving they don't blow it against their less than impressive schedule. With last year's team, they should have been able to go undefeated. The loss to Cal was huge upset and more than likely a fluke. Oregon, the only worry I see in their conference aside from Washington State, is not in their schedule. Should be cake. But they don't have what LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, and the Florida boys have. All of those schools are in powerful conferences. If you can sweep any of those conferences, you deserve the big dance, where more than likely, you will be facing one of them. But poor Texas, they'll never make it anywhere if they can't win against their hated foe on the other side of the Red River. The Cotton Bowl is not really a Longhorn's favorite place to play on Saturday. We can all thank Bob Stoops for that. As far as Michigan and Ohio State are concerned, they have to play each other. But they also have to worry about other Big 10 schools who like to appear out of nowhere and come up with upsets, Penn State and Minnesota. Paterno ain't done yet. Then there are the teams like Penn State and Minnesota that don't quite have what it takes every Thursday night or Saturday but still give the big ones a run for their money. College football is not predictable. Who thought OSU would beat Miami? Not many. Who thought Cal would upset USC? I can't think of anybody. Who thinks Texas will ever beat OU again? Well, that's a little below the belt because UT has the potential every year. For some reason they just can't do it. It's going to be interesting, just like every year and I don't plan on missing a game. Support your team whether they are the Delaware State Hornets or the Sooners of OU or whoever they are. Go NCAA.
