is strong-armed, intellectual quarterback who is looking forward to try
for the back-up job behind Byron Leftwich. After Michael Vick went down
to injury he started eight games last season for Atlanta. He brings much
needed experience to the quarterback position. During, the Falcons’ push
for the final tournament in 2002, he won a key game at New York Giants,
claiming first win in eight-game unbeaten streak, when Michael Vick
could not play because of a sprained shoulder injury. He had a career
day with 19-of-25 completions for 257 yards passing with a passing
touchdown and rushing touchdown in a 17-10 victory. In 2002, he
initiated a couple of games and saw action in four total contests as a
beginner. He accomplished the most passes (17) for the most yards (233)
ever by a Falcon rookie in his first start vs. Seattle on 3rd December, . He even named to Football News’ All-Rookie team. In 2003, he
initiated eight of 10 games in place of the injured Michael Vick
finishing 136 of 243 passes for 1,655 yards, eight TDs and 12 INTS (67.5
passer rating). He became more meticulous in the season opener Sept. 7
vs. Dallas completing 16 of 27 passes for 228 yards, two touchdowns,
which included his career-best, 41-yard scoring strike, and one
interception. He also added one rushing touchdown and received the game
ball. On September 14, , at Washington he finished 16-of-36 passes for 197 yards with
two touchdowns and two interceptions ... Was dismissed twice, including
once for a safety. He turned in best day as a pro Oct. 5 vs. Minnesota,
completing 28 of 40 passes for 352 yards, two touchdowns and two
interceptions.
