Welcome to Alabama Small Dog Rescue, a 501(c)3 pending organization dedicated to saving the lives of any small or toy breed dog. Please, take a moment to look at all the sweethearts we have available for adoption at this time. We also represent Pekingese Club of America's Pekingese Charitable Foundation (PCF), 501(c)3 approved, in the state of Alabama, and some of the dogs they have available are listed here as well (these dogs require a different application from ASDR's....both applications are below). The dogs that we are listing for PCF will have a contact name of Janice O'Connor on them. If one of them appeals to you, please contact her directly via the information on their bio page.
All of our companion animals are vetted, immunized, spayed or neutered, and on heartworm preventative prior to adoption, and each one is also eligible for one free month of ShelterCare Pet Insurance.
We answer emails anytime, but do visitation by appointment only. Our adoption fees range from $200 to $300. This is to recoup some of the cost of fostering, vetting, and other myriad items that come up in doing this kind of work. Each one of the animals you see here are presently in private foster homes, learning, socializing, and just plain having a great time being loved for the wonderful babies they are.

Hey. I'm Mr. Katrina, and I was found wandering the roads 10 days after the storm I get my name from. I was almost dead from living in the yucky water, and it made me very, very ill. A very nice couple picked me up and brought me to Birmingham, AL, where I went into rescue with ASDR under the direction of PCF. I had to have an operation to remove scar tissue in my lungs from breathing in all that nasty water, and had pneumonia, but I'm all better now!!
I'm being taken care of by a very nice lady, and she says I must have the luck of the Irish to have survived and come through such an ordeal. I'm tough, but loving, and can't wait to find the right family to spend the rest of my life with!! Can you give me the home I deserve? I'm a PCF dog.

Well, folks, spring is coming again. It's the time for opening up windows, cleaning out unused areas, and just generally enjoying the milder weather. Just remember....with spring, comes alot more rain (winter doesn't want to let go, so it gets rather wet in most areas of the country). This means colds, even in your pets.
Make sure you pay attention to the health of your pets. They, just like people, are susceptible to illnesses. And just like people, they need to have regular visits to the doctor (veterinarian). Make sure your pets' innoculations are kept up to date, and pay attention if you hear them start to cough or gag alot. This is a sign of illness that needs to be dealt with promptly, as it can lead to much more serious problems.
Also, don't forget to check their teeth, and clean them on a regular basis. Just like humans, they can get cavities, which can cause them to have trouble eating. Loss of weight can lead to lowered immune status, and we all want our pets to have healthy, happy lives!!
Can't afford to adopt, but want to help? Do you believe that every animal deserves to learn that people are good? Then why not consider Foster Care? We are in need of good quality foster homes for our babies. To learn more, or to apply, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will be happy to explain what is involved, and you too can make a difference in a needy animals life!!!
We welcome any and all donations. If you would like to help out with a one time donation, or would like to sponsor one of our dogs with a continuing pledge, please click on either of the donation buttons shown, or visit one of our sponsors.
