KAOS-RUBAD WILD DRAW FOUR

"UNO"

Uno winning BOS at Columbus, OH show November, 2009 under judge Arley Hussin.

Introducing Rubad and Kaos Kennels latest hopeful, Uno!

Uno was born December 2, 2008 and will be living with co-breeders Suzanne and Emily Geisler of Kaos Kennel. This little girl has a coat like a mink and is beautiful to look at. She has a special personality and is fun to live with. She gets along with most other dogs and loves people, especially kids. This puppy has loads of prey instinct and particularly likes to run after birds in flight. She has been herding instinct tested at 8 weeks of age by herding judge Kelly Malone, passing with flying colors.

Flash! Uno now has 5 single points and two 3 point majors toward her AKC champion title! She went BOW under judge Leslie Hintz and best in sweeps under respected breeder Tom Stewart at the Lexington, KY supported entry show on August 29, 2009! Uno has won Best of Winners and Best of Opposite Sex over a top special under judge Arley Hussin. She won another BOS in E Lansing, MI over a beautiful bitch special - thanks judge Katie Gammel!

Uno's Health Tests

Uno is A/N, carrier, for Degenerative Myelopathy and clear for PRA through her pedigree.
Her 8 week CERF eye tests were normal (not submitted to OFA database).
Uno's hips have been Xrayed at 6 months of age and look normal but have not been submitted to OFA.
Uno has been cardiac tested and is normal.
Uno has had a CERF eye test at one year of age and is normal, with a notation for one distichia.*

*Distichia are referred to as "extra eyelashes". These are actually not eyelashes, but are hairlike structures with no root that occur on the eyelids. Normally these are not a problem and can easily be removed by a veterinarian, there can be hundreds in some cases, requiring surgery.

CH. AFARA JANEL
Ch. Tafarnwr Dreadnought x Ch. Afara Zaphira

"JANEL"

We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to add Janel to our breeding program! Big thanks to master breeder and mentor Paul Chen of Afara! Janel is owned by Paul and will be leased with good friends Suzanne and Emily Geisler. She is living with Suzanne and her family. Janel comes from a spectacular litter full of quality and is a daughter of group and Megan winner Ch. Tafarnwr Dreadnought! Janel combines extremely correct movement all three ways with to-die-for type. She is a Cardigan with strong, hard to get virtues, such as exceptional prosternum, long second thigh, short loin with correct length and depth of ribbing. She has the most perfect Cardigan profile, with proper curves and sweep, that I have seen. Janel is very loving with people, and gets along well with other dogs, cats, and children. She was acquired specifically to breed to our boy, Ch. Rubad-Harrow Brython, to improve type and movement and also to continue on with exceptional temperaments. Janel is the mother of our Uno. I am looking forward to our next litter with Janel and Grendal, expected in January. See our Puppy Page for details.

Janel's Health Tests

Janel has had her OFA prelim at 19 months of age, and has a fair rating.
Janel has had her PennHip Xrays evaluated. Her distraction scores are 0.52/0.58, in the 60th percentile of the breed.
Janel's spine has been Xrayed. She has even disk spaces with no calcification, but she has an extra lumbar vertebrae, and a transitional vertebrae. She has no issues from these two anomolies so far.
Janel is passing with no notes for elbows, WCC-EL132F25-PI
Janel's MSU thyroid panel was normal, not submitted to the database
Janel's patella examinations were normal.
CERF normal at 8 weeks of age and one year of age, not submitted to database.
CERF at age 26 months, WCC-1070.
Janel is PRA clear through her line
Janel is genetically at risk for Degenerative Myelopathy.*

* What does this mean? Janel is genetically "at risk", A/A; she carries two genes for degenerative myelopathy. While this is not the scenario we were hoping for, it is not the end for Janel. DM is a serious, but normally old age, disease that does not strike every dog that is genetically affected (because Janel must encounter the "right" environmental or stress triggers). Since we are breeding Janel to our Bryn and Grendal, whose result were genetically "normal", N/N, we can still breed her safely and only produce carriers, N/A. Carriers will be extremely unlikely to produce the disease as the age of onset would be 20 to 30 years.

AFARA NEVER BEEN SO BLUE
Ch. Wolfrun Afara Far and Away x Afara Incandescence

"NILI"

Another huge thank you to breeder/mentor Paul Chen for sending us yet another stunning bitch! Nili has fantastic movement, excellent breed type and another fabulous temperament. We are looking forward to Nili being a key component in the Rubad tapestry. Nili will be co-owned and will live with Erin Ervine, DVM, of Sandsea kennel.

Nili's Health Tests

Nili is A/A for Degenerative Myelopathy, genetically "at risk". This means that we will need to breed Nili to a dog who is N/N in order to avoid producing at risk progeny.
Nili has been PennHip tested at one year of age with the result of 0.84/0.81 (10th percentile). Her OFA Preliminary score is good.
