The Scream Trilogy

I don't really like to call the Scream series a trilogy. A trilogy is when the writers, producers, and whoever else in charge out there in Hollywood intend to make three movies. Usually, the writers have either written the three scripts beforehand or they have an idea of what they want to happen in each film to cycle through a complete story. The Scream "Trilogy" is not really a trilogy. It is more like a "Hey we made a bunch of money off of the first one, let's poop out two more half assed sequels." And it really doesn't matter how bad they are because people will undoubtingly see them out of like for the first. The first Scream was good. It had everything a good teen slasher movie needs. A masked killer, girls being chased around with their boobs a flying, sex (even if it is G rated in an R rated movie), people getting brutally stabbed, and a suprise shocker ending. The second Scream tries to follow through with the tradition. Killing off an original character from the first Scream and trying to tie in a suprise ending. This doesn't really work because there is no real clues that lead up to the killers identities. Suddenly, the killer unmaskes himself and I'm left wondering "who the hell is that?" I later found out that the killer is the guy in the film class you see in the beginning. Remember him? No? I didn't the first time around either. The other killer happens to be the annoying reporter/writer/whatever who's been hanging around campus. Oh and by the way, she's Billy(the original killer's) mother. Yes, that sums up motive and everything even if it does happen to be random and make no sense. The thrid Scream is just a complete waste of time to watch and a catastrophe of a third sequel. The plot is lame and the made up story elements just suck. Were people actually supposed to be suprised by that ending? "Oh my God! Sydney's mother had a secret bastard child while in Hollywood! What?! Sydney has a brother who also happens to be the killer out of spite for being abandoned as a kid! Oh wait, and get this, not only that, but he is the one who convinced Stu and Billy to be the killers in the original film in the first place! Wow!" Yup. The whole trilogy is all tied up and it is all interweaved to fit to one story that makes perfect sense. Yeah right. If the yeah right didn't give away my sarcasm then let me tell you flat. This "trilogy" sucks. It was a stupid idea to make it a trilogy and just ruins the original film's ability to be an okay slasher film. Making up story elements to continue a story that has long since been over is never a good movie making idea.
