Hipocrits Ban Gay Marriage

There are quite a few points I would like to make on this particular issue. Currently, it is a very controversial one and has the city in an uproar about equal rights and discrimination vs. religion and preserving the sanctity of marriage. The first main point I would like to make is to all those bible toting maniacs out there who want to rule the world and govern all of its inhabitants with the iron hand of religion as how they personally see fit. You have no right to interfere with the lifestyle decisions of others. Your judgement of a person solely on the basis of their sexuality is the most blind form of prejudice I have ever heard of. If you are not aware of the fact that there is more to a person than their sexual preference and that there is more to a relationship than sex, you are the ones who should be banned from being allowed to get married. If two people who are mature enough to understand the meaning behind a true relationship want to devote their lives to each other through marriage then they should be allowed to do so. Love is love and telling someone that they are not allowed to marry someone they love because they are gay is discrimination. This is the type of prejudice that keeps the world blind with hatred. I don't understand why people feel that it is their personal right to interfere in the lives of others and actually try to prevent relationships that they know absolutely nothing about. This type of behavior is on the same page as racism. To allow these prejudices to succeed will only enforce a policy that permits no tolerance and prejudice to be not only permitted but expected. We need to be accepting of others. Homosexuals are people just like heterosexuals and we are all a part of the human race. We all feel love and desire companionship with those who make us happy. It is wrong to treat gay couples differently. I have personally spent a significant amount of my childhood inside of a gay couple's home. They were the best parents I had ever seen. While many couples get married for all the wrong reason (unexpected pregnancy, etc.) we at least know that gay couples desire marriage out of love and devotion. If all of those relgious fanatics out there are really so concerned about preserving the sanctity of marriage, they would be more concerned about banning divorce. There is nothing that seems to be destroying traditional marriage worse than the rising divorce rate in this country. The only other point I would like to make is that, if being gay is so wrong, why is it acceptable for two women to kiss or have sex on televsion? There are posters of two women kissing, there are many pornographic videos of lesbian sex. Lesbian relationships are an accepted form of entertainment in movies. Why is it okay for people to be gay when it is for entertainment purposes, but when those same two people want to get married, it's all of a sudden taboo. That seems rather hipocritical if you ask me. What kind of message is America making by saying that gay people can have sex as long as it's for the enjoyment of others, but those same two people cannot possibly have a meaningful relationship or get married? We are a nation of individuals. Though we are all part of the human race, we are different and have different types of relationships. We should not be defined by our gender, race, or sexuality because there is far more to a person than what you see on the surface and frankly, other people's relationships are no one else's business.
