Femme Fatale
Let me first clear up the misconception of the title. Femme Fatale is not a movie about a sexy female who goes around beating people up. It is not an action movie at all. This movie is a mystery about a diamond heist, mistaken identity, and blackmail. It begins by introducing the lead character who is planning to help heist diamonds. Then there is about fifteen minutes of lesbian sex and the plan goes horribly wrong. She double crosses her partners and takes the diamonds for herself. Knowing that they will be after her, she skips town. This is where it gets weird. Aparently the parents of a girl who happens to look exactly like her, take her in thinking she's their daughter. Their real daughter comes hom and kills herself leaving our femme fatale free to take her place and use her passport to go to American where she marries a rich man. Seven years later she has since moved back to France and Antonio Bandaras takes a picture of her exposing her true identity. Now for some plot. She decides to use Antonio Banderas as a pawn and make everyone think that he kidnapped her in order to get money from her husband. They have sex after she does a strip tease for someone else. Then she shoots everyone. Does this make sense? Suddenly she wakes up. Ha ha, it was just a dream. She decides to take another course of action and everything turns out okay. I have so many problems with this movie that I cannot possibly get into all of them so I'll just mention the main buggers. First off, the audience is supposed to identify with the female character and hope that she ends up happy and okay in the end. My question is why would they? Her character is a lying, cheating, conninving, and total bitch. She's the only one who does any real murdering in the film. I was hoping someone would kill her. There isn't really much of a story behind all of this, just a bunch of random things happening. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos is supposed to be super sexy. She does a strip tease and everything. However, they could have left all these scenes out of the picture. She looks anorexicly thin, like she's dying. You can see her bones. It is disgusting. Then the end reveals a suprise where she is partners with the girl she stole the diamonds from in the first place. The plot was that she never switched the fake diamonds for the real ones and the other girl involved left the place with the real diamonds. This doesn't make any sense simply because Rebecca's character took the diamonds with her. That is the whole point behind her being chased by the men she double crossed. If she left the diamonds there and her partners took the fake ones, later to find out that she switched them and has the real diamonds, that would make sense. However, this isn't the case. I am going to stop now because this movie was so confusing I don't even think this film review makes sense.
