This is a basic Iguana Food Chart. The Items on this list should be fed to your pet iguana(feel free to mix these items up for your iguanas well being and happiness) Kale---should only be fed on occasion because of high oxalate levels ******************************************************* Acorn Squash----Great for fiber and can be fed on a regular basis(make to core and peel before chopping or shredding) ***************************************************** *** Alfalfa---Good staple food item ******************************************************* Apples---Should be peeled and chopped or shredded(Good on occasion for a treat) ******************************************************* Kiwi Fruit---peel, remove seeds and chop or shred. Good for an iguana treat. ******************************************************* Lentils---cook and finely chop ******************************************************* Mango---Should be peeled, chopped or shredded. Good for a treat and a staple fruit. ****************************************************** Mushrooms---Feed on occasion because of high phosphurous levels. should be chopped. ******************************************************* Mustard Greens---Good High Calcium green and can be fed daily. Cut or shred into strips and discard the stem. Be sure to wash in case of pesticide. ******************************************************* * Nausturtiums----good treat. ******************************************************** Okra----Good staple veggie. Finely chop or shred. ****************************************************** Dandelion Greens----Very high and calcium and can be fed daily. Cut or shred into strips and discard the stems. ******************************************************* Endive---High in calcium and can be fed daily. Chop or shred into strips and discard the stems. ****************************************************** Escarole---High in calcium. Cut or shred into strips and discard stems. ******************************************************* Figs---High in calcium and fiber good staple fruit and can be a daily treat. ***************************************************** Grapes---Good source for water content but rather high in oxalates should be an occasional treat. ******************************************************* Green Beans---Good staple veggie. Chop or shred. ********************************************************** Hibiscus---Nice iguana treat ****************************************************** Honeydew Melon--an ocassional treat that should be chopped or shredded *********************************************************** Kabocha Squash---Staple veggie can be fed daily. core chop and shred. ******************************************************** snap peas---should be finely chopped ******************************************************* Spagetti squash---an occasional meal that should be chopped or shredded and cored. ****************************************************** Spinach---high in calcium but very high in oxalates as well....occasional feedings will do. ******************************************************* Strawberries---occasional treat that are high in oxalates and goitrogens. ******************************************************* Sweet Potato---High in calcium and fiber. Good on a daily basis. peel and shred. ******************************************************8 Swiss Chard---high in oxalates only feed on occassion. ******************************************************* Tomatos--color and taste enhancershould be chopped and fed on occasssion. Remember these are acidic so do not be alarmed if your iguana turns his nose up. ****************************************************** Turnip Greens---High in calcium but high in oxalates best served with other greens. ****************************************************** Watercress---very high in calcium. Good for daily meals. ******************************************************* Watermelon-----Great choice for extra water content. Although somewhat lacking in nutrition. It makes a great treat. ******************************************************* whole wheatbread---great treat and easy to hide medicine. ****************************************************** Yellow Squash---occasional meal. Chop or shred. *************************************************** Yucca Root----Staple veggie. peel and shred. ****************************************************** Zucchini---an occasional meal. chop and shred. ******************************************************* Asparagus---occasional. ******************************************************** Bannas----only on occasion. Peels can be fed if organically grown. ******************************************************* Beets and beet greens----an occasional meal ******************************************************** Bell Peppers(Green yellow and gold)---good for color should be cored then chopped or shredded ******************************************************** Blackberries---an occasional treat. ******************************************************** Bok Choy---an occasionl meal ******************************************************* Broccoli---only on occasion ******************************************************* Brussel Sprouts---Only on occasion ******************************************************* Butternut Squash----Very staple veggie can be fed daily. Peel core chop or shred. ******************************************************* Cabbage---only on occasion ******************************************************** Cactus Leaves---High in calcium. Good staple fruit. ******************************************************* Canteloupe-----an occasional treat. Good source of water content. Peel core and chop. *************************************************** carrots-----and occasional meal ******************************************************* Cauliflower---an occasional meal *************************************************************************** Celery---an occasional meal chop or shred. ***************************************************************** Collard Greens---High in calcium good daily meal. ************************************************************************** Cilantro----only on occasion ******************************************************************************** Cucumber---good for water and flavor but only on occasion ********************************************************** Dahlia----good for a treat ********************************************************** Papaya----Good source of fiber.
