Characters 

These are the Characters that appear in Secret of Mana. Some are good, some are bad, and some are just there. 

Main Characters

Randi		This is the main character of the game and usually whom you will control. He found the sword when he accidentally fell off a cliff by a waterfall near his town. Although he doesn't know it, he is actually the Mana Knight. But to take on the enemies he will face, he must recharge the Mana sword.  Best Weapon: Sword
Purim		This is Purim, the last to permanently join your party. She is from Pandora, but runs away because her father will not let her marry whom she wants, namely Dyluck. She will join you after you save her from Werewolves.  Best Weapon: Whip or Gloves
Popoie		Popoie is an orphaned sprite from the Upperland. He was swept south because of a huge flood. He will join you after you beat Tropicallo, and will prove not so useful in the beginning. He will join at a lower level than Randi is going to be at, so level him up before you go to fight Elinee.  Best Weapon: Spear or Axe

The Republic 

Jema		Jema is a knight from Tasnica, and a great ally to you. He will help you the most at the beginning of the game by telling you where to go. He fought along the warrior Serin, who was the original Mana Knight.
Dyluck		Dyluck is Purim's boyfriend as he is the leader of the witch hunters. On his hunt for the witch Elinee, he is captured and sent to Thanatos.
Republic Soldier		These guys are the soldiers of the republic, but serve no real purpose in the game. They can be found in Tasnica and Pandora.
Morie		This little brat is the grandson of the commander of the royal sand ship. He saves you from the dessert, buy then proceeds to split you up from your friends.
Meria		This is the commander of the royal sand ship. He sets Morie strait.

The Empire

Emperor Vandole		This is the ruler of the evil Empire. He seems to be in charge of everything, but one of his generals is actually using him to gain greater power.
Thanatos		Thanatos is responsible for kidnapping Phanna and Dyluck. He seems to control the ruins south of Pandora, but it is not determined why the people of Pandora have become like Zombies. He is smarter than you think, and also much more powerful.
Geshtar		Geshtar is the Emperor's most trusted general. He fights with Jabberwocky and Mech Riders. He is the first of the Empire's generals you encounter.
Sheex		This general seems to specialize in the art of stealth. He sneaks into Tasnica and imitates the king. He attacks you as Dark Stalker and Aegagropilon.
Fanha		She is the fourth general, and is only briefly in the game. She attacks as Hexas.

Other Characters

Timothy		Timothy is one of Randi's childhood friends. He is with Randi when he fall down the waterfall.
Elliot		Elliot is another of Randi's friends. Him and Randi fall in the Mantis Ant's pit.
Serin		Randi encounters this ghost after he falls down the waterfall. Serin tells Randi to take the sword.
Elder		The elder of Potos took Randi in when he was a child. Unfortunately, he had no choice but to banish Randi after he freed the sword.
Cannon Travel Man		For 50 GP, this guy will shoot you out of his cannon to a place of your choosing. He becomes obsolete after you get Flammie.
Neko		This cat will sell you items usually in the middle of nowhere. The catch is the items prices are almost doubled.
Sage Luka		Luka is the keeper of the water palace, and she will guide until you reach The Upperland. Also, the 200 year old sage will give you the spear.
Phanna		Phanna is Purim's best friend, although she is jealous of Purim and Dyluck's love. Her and Dyluck get kidnapped by Thanatos.
Dwarf Elder		This Dwarf is the leader of the Dwarf Village. He instructs Popie to go with you on your journey.
Rabite Man		The Rabite man is half Rabite and half man. So he's a Mabite, right!!! Ahaha....
Watts		Watts usefulness in incalculable. He will forge your weapons whenever you receive a new orb. He also gives you the axe.
Elinee		This is the witch that Dyluck is hunting. She attacks you with her pet, the Spikey Tiger.
Scorpion Army Boss		This is the leader of the Scorpion "Army". Sadly her army consists of two morons and herself. She attacks with Kilroy and Kettle Kin, none of witch are formidable.
Scorpion Army Boys		These two guys share half a brain. They follow their boss without question.
Grandpa Sprite		This is Popoie's grandfather. He gives you the Sylphid elemental.
King Truffle		Truffle is the leader of Matango. He is a great ally, especially because he raises Flammie for you.
Flammie		Flammie becomes your mode of transportation after you infiltrate the Emperor's castle. He makes cannon travel obsolete.
Sergo		This pirate helps you escape the Republic Sandship.
King Amar		Don't worry, I thought he was selling candy too. King Amar is Kakkara's leader, and in exchange for a Sea Hare's Tail he will give you the Moogle Belt.
Karon		Karon will take you across the Sea of Stars to reach the Moon Palace.
Rudolf		His master was captured!! But who could it be....
Santa		You meet Santa after you beat him as the Frost Gigas. Thats right, Santa is Frost Gigas. He will give you the Fire Seed. Merry Christmas!!
Mara		You will meet this old bat in Northtown. Everyone thinks she is crazy, but in fact she was the wife of a Republic Soldier. She gives you the key to Gold Tower.
Resistance Member		These are the soldiers of the terrorist group known as the resistance.
Resistance Member		These are the soldiers of the terrorist group known as the resistance.
Krissie		Although still young at the age of 18, Krissie is the leader of the Resistance. You meet up with her in Northtown and the Lost Continent.
Pecard		Pecard is the caretaker of the lighthouse. He will tell you about the Lost Continent.
Jehk/ Joch		This bird tells you that he is Jehk, the faithful servant of Joch. He is actually Sage Joch. He tells you where to go after you get Flammie.
Joch		This Joch is not real. He is an illusion to confuse you until you prove yourself at the Test of Courage.
