Background: Wilhelmina was born in Vorsehungstadt, a small city-state within the shadows of the Hammerhorne Mountains, and a member of the Vinland tribes. Her father, being the Margrave of Vorsehungstadt, was of noble birth.

On her thirteenth birthday, Mina was attacked and raped by a friend of her fathers; a visiting nobleman from the neighboring city-state of Hallsburg. During this assault, Wilhelmina was first visited by Saint Providence (Mary von Vorsehungstadt). Providence assured her that she would survive the nightmarish assault, and that her soul would be purified by a life of service to the lost souls of the Trugod faith.

When her father Wilhelm discovered that his daughter’s sexual purity had been lost he blamed her, refusing to believe her claims that she had been visited by a Saint of the Trugod faith. Before the turn of her fourteenth year, Wilhelmina was sent into the care of the Society of the Holy Souls.

She became a Novice under the care of her uncle, Ruprecht von Baak. Ruprecht was a Paladin – a defender of the faith charged with the salvation of lost souls. Ruprecht trained Mina in the arms and art of war, while the Ladies of Saint Providence taught her the ways of the faith. Her training continued for eight years; until on her twenty-second birthday when she learned of Ruprecht’s death at the hands of the demon Azrael.

It was there, at Ruprecht’s funeral, that Wilhelmina was once again visited by Saint Providence. Providence handed into her possession an amulet she claimed held Ruprecht’s soul. Providence told her that Ruprecht’s soul would not know eternal peace until Azrael was banished once again to the Abyss. She told Mina that she would find Azrael in the New World colony of Praxis.

Now a fully-initiated Paladin, Wilhelmina left Vorsehungstadt bound for the port city of Barin Ginor. From Barin Ginor she intended to reach Battersea in the Kingdom of Aug, and board a ship bound for the Colonies. On her way through the Hammerhorne Mountains, Wilhelmina came across a desperate battle between a dwarf named Ironil, and a demon known as Ghorash. The Ghorash, being a minor fire demon, had been summoned by an unseen hand, not to destroy the innocent dwarf, but to kill Wilhelmina before she had an opportunity to reach Praxis.

Using the silver sword left to her by Ruprecht von Baak, Wilhelmina was able to drive the Ghorash back into the chaotic depths of the Abyss. Ironil, eternally grateful for her actions, swore his allegiance to her. The dwarf chose to accompany her as far as Barin Ginor.

As they approached the city of Hallsburg, the last and largest of the Vinland city-states, they became aware that they were being followed. Setting an ambush for their stalker, they soon discovered that the culprit was Falwen Farstaff, a close friend of Mina’s. When Falwen had learned of her sudden departure, he immediately packed a few belongings and set out after her.

The three entered Hallsburg to an ominous reception. Another minor demon; this one known as Mob, had been unleashed upon the city. Unable to defeat the duplicating demon, the paladin known as Caleth had become bitterly frustrated. His Patron Saint was Kord, and as such Caleth was well-versed in the art of war. He doubted Mina’s ability to do anything, ultimately rejecting her offers to help. Frustrated by his attitude towards her, Wilhelmina entered the city anyway. She was able to find and cut down the original incarnation of the demon, banishing it and all its duplicates to the Abyss.

Infuriated at having been upstaged by a woman, Caleth challenged Wilhelmina to a duel. Mina promptly declined the challenge, but a fallen angel intervened. Agunapalgosanigor, who at one time had seen his romantic notions rejected by Mary von Vorsehungstadt (Saint Providence), took interest in the young woman whose personal crusade had begun at the request of her patron saint. Agunapalgosanigor used his dark and sinister skills to seduce Caleth, turning him into a Dark Paladin. His intent was to use Caleth as the instrument of Wilhelmina’s death.

Caleth then followed Wilhelmina, Falwen and Ironil to the port city of Barin Ginor (the city of his birth). Sensing the presence of Agunapalgosanigor, Mina was forced by her Holy Orders to accept Caleth’s second challenge. She managed to defeat Caleth, and drive Agunapalgosanigor from his soul. Angered by this, Agunapalgosanigor’s sister Elguoililurrubochaden claimed the body and soul of Caleth’s younger sister Cyn. She used Cyn to seduce Falwen Farstaff, tricking him into leaving Mina’s side.

Undaunted, though unaware of Farstaff’s plight, Mina boards a ship bound for Battersea alone. Leaving behind Falwen, Ironil and the continent of her birth, Wilhelmina continued her search for the demon known as Azrael.

Upon reaching Battersea, Wilhelmina visited with the Society of the Holy Souls and the Trugod Church located there. Having been told by Providence that she would find Azrael in the colony city of Praxis, Mina accepted a call to do missionary work in the New World. Assigned a young Novice named Jordan Honorheart, Wilhelmina boarded yet another ship – this one bound for the colony of Roanoke.

Following the long voyage to Roanoke, Mina and Jordan left Roanoke for Praxis, traveling by land (Mina’s first encounter with ocean travel did not go over very well). While traveling the trade routes between Roanoke and Praxis, Mina and Jordan encountered a Kobold Conjuror named Del Rook, and a half-elven ranger named Caitrin. The two managed to convince Wilhelmina to join them in their quest in exchange for companionship to Praxis.

Personality: As a defender of the faith in the service of Saint Providence, Wilhelmina follows a strict Code of Conduct. This code of conduct will ensure that she respects authority, always acts with honour; helps those in need and punishes evil in all its forms. Mina will never knowingly associate with evil characters, or with those that offend her moral code. Wilhemina is at times a very serious young woman; intense and brooding she can come across as arrogant in her beliefs and opinions.
