Background: Longtime a smuggler between the Kingdom of Aug and Kingdom of Cadessi, Fafnir almost settled down once in his life. He married a beautiful young wizard's apprentice, Katya, and vowed to live a more normal life. After one last run, naturally. He had already settled down; starting to trade normal commodities, and they even had a son, Josh. Eight years later, however, the job of a lifetime arose– smuggling disgraced nobles out of Cadessi to Aug for more gold than Fafnir could count. Everything was going fine on their "second honeymoon" cruise, until a Cadessi Naval Ship stopped his vessel and discovered the would-be expatriates in the hold. Fafnir and his shocked bride were imprisoned for ten years in Cadessi, and Josh was given to orphanage in a gnome enclave in Cadessi.

His wife sent him a divorce decree before he tasted freedom. Through correspondence with his brother Octavius in Praxis City, he by chance discovered his son had signed up for the Town Watch in the colony. Although largely discredited among Aug shippers, Fafnir bought a ship and with his new partner Drystein, a magically intelligence enhanced chimpanzee, began trading between Aug and Praxis City. While visiting Tusmit in Aug, he tried unsuccessfully to make peace with his ex-wife.

In Praxis City, however, he was successful in becoming reunited with his son, who was moving quickly in the ranks of the Town Watch as an urban ranger. Soon, Fafnir fell into his old practices, and his ship, the Rebel Law, was impounded and seized by authorities in Praxis City, after a contraband shipment of monstrous spiders escaped; still prevalent in the city sewer system. The Rebel Law was pressed into service transporting goods between the colonies, and Fafnir and Drystein were left to try to raise funds in Praxis.

As fate would have it, Fafnir's past caught up with him once again, this time in the form of an eight-year old half-elf boy named Jaik. Jaik showed up on the doorstep of his temporary quarters, the Red Rum Inn, with a scroll that claimed him as Fafnir's son, through a dalliance with an elven mistress while imprisoned in Cadessi (note: Jaik was originally written by Vanessa Eads on the Kal-Dixas Allied Simulations Group).

Although unemployed, Fafnir took Jaik under his wing, and was startled to discover that Jaik had "special abilities" for a young lad. Soon, those "abilities" were put to use, and Jaik stole a tidy sum of valuable diamonds from the Dor family, and Fafnir and Jaik invested in the Doom Lounge, a seedy bar in the warehouse district. Peel, leader of the so-called "Elven Mafia, soon recruited Fafnir" to run the city's spy network. All of Fafnir's "customers" however, may not be of the criminal element of all. Fafnir has done well, keeping Jaik mostly out of trouble, and even buying the neighboring Red Rum Inn as well. His eldest son Josh rose to Watch Detective, so Fafnir has to walk a thin line to balance family duties and the family business, as well as be wary of any enemies he has made in the business.

Personality: Fafnir is always friendly to newcomers, giving them a complimentary first round and trying to figure out who they know in common (Fafnir has a large number of contacts). He is very helpful, but still expects to be paid a fair price for his services.
