We need the help of people in the ghost community or any knowledge of Vandenberg AFB.

This is a portion of an email We received.

"I am trying to research this because back in 1977 my father was the fire chief at Vandenberg and on Dec. 20 there was a bad fire and my father (and two others) lost their life. This caught my attention because the bodies were found near slick 5 where the haunting was reported. Please, if you can help me in any way or give me names of someone you think might be able to, I would greatly appreciate it."

Los Angeles - Venice Beach - Westminster Ave. Apartment Bldg. - Charlie Chaplin used to own several of the large buildings that sit near or along the famous Venice Beach Boardwalk in Los Angeles. In the day, these buildings were commonly used as bath houses or lodging for wealthy vacationers. Today, these buildings have been converted to apartment buildings for the local artists, musicians, and other creative types that now inhabit Venice Beach. Incidentally these buildings cradle around the famous Building Number 26 on Westminster Ave. It has been documented in print as well as Chaplin's films that during the early 1900's he did much of his filming in and around these properties on Westminster Avenue. In 1915, during the filming of "By the Sea" Chaplin's stunt double mysteriously disappeared from the film set. Production was put on hold for three days and a full on man-hunt was instated. After turning up empty-handed, it was assumed that the long time friend of Chaplin's must have quit and left on his on recognizance. The studios that were financially backing the film, were losing money. Under haste, Chaplin was forced to replace his stunt double and continue production of the film. On the seventh day after the disappearance, Chaplin returned to his dressing room after a day of shooting. His dressing room was located in the basement of the now famous Building number 26 on Westminster. It is documented that Chaplin, while accompanied by an entourage, entered the room to discover his stunt double and long time friend lying dead on the floor, wet and covered in seaweed. The man appeared to have been deceased for several days. How he had ended up on the floor of Chaplin's dressing room after missing for almost an entire week, is still to this day a complete mystery. The "now" inhabitants of the famous building claim to still hear strange noises emanating from the walls of somebody walking through shallow water. Other noises include moaning, and sounds of someone distantly crying for help. In addition to the assortment of disturbing sounds, there have been several sightings of what appears to be an apparition of a man bound by the hands and feet standing in luminous corners of the large building. Quite possibly the most blood curdling detail of all these sightings is what the man is seen wearing. He's dressed the same way he was the day he disappeared. The new Inn was built using some of the original bricks. It is said that that in one room, a ghost calls 9-1-1. Petaluma - Haystack Landing/between highway 101 and the Petaluma River - Haystack Landing has a large history of hauntings, dating back from the first Native Americans to set foot on this area. They warned Spanish settlers, and later, a Spanish missionary was found dead from self inflicted wounds after trying to cleanse the area. Years later, the area was used as a prime location for loading and unloading ships from San Francisco,(mostly hay and grain), since it was conveniently close to the Petaluma River. Haystack landing soon became a small docking site where several settlers went crazy and killed farmers and bystanders, then turned on each other and were all found dead. Later, a man bought the property for the great amounts of agriculture it produced. Soon after he disappeared and was never seen again. Two brothers then bought the property and obtained a steam train that they used on the property. The engine exploded, killing thirty men on its maiden voyage. In later years, the property was used to house farm workers and then burned to the ground killing everyone inside. Bystanders recalled hearing hideous laughter, as everyone burned alive. Shortly after, several children were crushed between a dock and a boat. The only surviving child said that he saw the children being pushed by a giant shadow that afterwards, disappeared into the ground. Despite the resistance from the record of unexplainable events, a small saloon and hotel was then built on the property, but to bring in more income, the owners also decided to feature bear and bull fights. On the opening night, the bear and bull broke out of the pin and killed and maimed audience members. The owners then tried to bring back more people, and forget the tragedy by opening the hotel early. One night, the building caught fire when lightening struck it, and all of the victim’s bones were scattered around the property, as if they exploded with the lightening strike. In 1883, a family bought the property and began building a large house on it. Before the excavation could begin, the whole family was killed by a steamboat accident right before they reached Haystack Landing. With the building of the Golden Gate Bridge, the landing became obsolete, and more reports came in. A few transients supposedly committed mass suicide, and had carved strange markings on their bodies, along with a few gashes. A sheepherder fenced his flock on the property, and the following day, every sheep was found dead. A Wealthy man later bought the property, and built his dream house. Him and his wife moved in, and shortly, he was recruited into WW2. While he is away, his wife commits suicide. After finding his wife dead, he dies by reportedly, falling down the stairs. In 1952, the plans for Petaluma have been made to not include Haystack Landing. A man bought the property as a gateway to the city, and after spending his first night in the house; him and his wife are found murdered by being hacked up by two men on drugs. The house and the property was not sold after that, but was still frequently visited by curious travelers. One man was found dead, hanged from the rafters within the house. A caretaker was found dead from a heart attack at the back of the house. The day before, he had reported to the police that he had heard bizarre cries from the property. Two more transients were found dead in the house after overdosing on narcotics. Before they died, they had written that the house was evil on all the walls. Teenagers found the house as a great location to "make out." Hideous screams and grotesque arms grabbed one of the couples and they left the house screaming. In October 1995, a professor of parapsychology and six of his students went to the house to do a documentary before the house was scheduled for demolition. The professor and five of the six students were assaulted. None of their video footage could be used as hard evidence. Development on the property has stopped and the house and property is still intact. The property is still for sale, and is closed to any and all visitors.
