Dwarves are short and stocky, standing about 4' to 4 1/2' tall and weighing between 130 and 170 pounds. Male dwarves sport long thick well-kept beards which they groom and decorate endlessly. Eye color is usually brown or grey, with rare individuals having blue or green. They are powerfully built, with thick arms and legs, thick, rough grey skin, dense muscles and rock hard bones. Their skin is ruddy or earth colored, light tan or light brown, and their hair is light or dark brown, gray, or black. These attributes make many believe that dwarves are born from the very rock in which they live. Dwarves also have much in common with the rocks and gems they love to work, for they are both hard and unyielding. Female dwarves can have beards, and they are almost as stocky and angular as the males. Dwarves are courageous, tenacious fighters who are normally ill-disposed toward magic. Stubborn but practical, dwarves are fond of good food and drink. They value craftsmanship and love gold. Dwarven mail is much valued, for it is known that when a dwarf forges something, he does it to last a lifetime. Dwarves can see in the dark, gifted as they are with infravision, and can make find their way easily in the caverns in which they dwell.
