this story is titled
Fairy Dust and ALl That is
Good.
Kiera had just woken up.The
sound of the small fairies playing below her had softly stirred her from her dreams. She looked down from her small treebranch
that she had slumbered on just moments ago,and
watched the small fairies frolic. How she wished to be
able to play like that with them, and scream with laughter, but this was impossible.Kiera
had just turned the ripe age of 10,meaning she was no longer a child fairy, but a girl.Where Kiera lived, the fairy village of Manoa,There were four stages in a girl fairie's
life.Child fairy,which you
are from birth till your tenth birthday, girl, which
you are from the age 10 until you turn 20.These are the days in which you must
slave and look nice and do everything to take care of every whim of a boy fairy
who you are engaged to on your tenth birthday. You are
not allowed to play, and must work all day for your
boy fairy, who is usually only one year older. Then,on your twentieth birthday, you
become a fairy, able to control your own life, and do what you please, then,on
your 50th birthday,you become a mother,if
you have had children,or an elder fairy.Kiera
fluttered down from her branch and into the arms of her awaiting mother.Today was the day Kiera
would be engaged. She knew who she was engaged to,and she had no choice,so she
cried into her plump,fairy-mother's shoulder, and whimpered when her mother spoke. Her
mother talked of the good times Kiera would have, but Kiera knew otherwise, she was engaged to a mean fairy-boy,who she knew would make her do useless things for nothing. She continued to cry.
*~*
Nightfall overcame the small, twinkling little village, and it was time for the ceremony.Keira's
mother helped her get dressed, and Kiera
tried to feel happy. She loved her childhood, she
did not want to become a slave for a boy.She was led
into the middle of the circle that was formed by fairies all still and quiet, her dainty step with her little heels echoed through
the trees. How she wished to be rid of them and fly away, laughing and screaming joyfuly. On
the otherside of the cirls,a
gap was opening up,and the fairy boy walked into face
her,he wasgrinning solidly,and evily,Kiera noticed.The eldest fairy told them to kneel,then
blessed them and sprinkled fairy dust over their heads. Then
they were to rise into the air and hold their hands out so they were touching.Kiera new this would magically bond them for life, and she would never be able to escape. So
as the two flew silenty up into the air, they reached out their hands, and
Kiera flew as fast as she could away from him, right at the vital moment. She
whizzed though the reetops and out over the village.Suddenly swarms of fairies were raising into the
air to go after her, while the boy fairy sat stupidly
with his arms out.The eldest fairy called them all
back to the ground and explained that is Kiera did
not wish to be engaged, then the engagment
was not fit and that they would not lead a happy life. This
was determined by how strongly Kiera's will to get
out of the engagement was.The eldest fairy told all
of them to sit down and pray for Kiera's return.Menwhile,Kiera had not stopped to notice they were
not chasing her,and had flown out from over the woods
and over a wide plain. Her plan was to stop when she
reached the Far Woods. She finally saw them in the distance, and preceded to circle over them in search of a
good spot.She found one,and
settled down, out of breath from her long, strenuous flight. The next day,Kiera was so shaken she wished no longer to be a fairy, and brutally and painfully cut her wings off.She ground them into fairy dust, then
placed the dust in a small lhether poutch. She cried all day from the pain, and
cried herself asleep, for the cutting and or
destroying of a fairie's wings is the destruction of
a delicate form of life, and the most painful thing in
the world for a fairy to endure, besides being torn
from life and love.Kiera had done both. She
lived in solitude for many years, growing to the full
grown size of a fairy at age twenty, the equivalent of
a three year old girl.One day,she
decided to try a spell that would allow her to grow to the size of a twenty
year old human woman. She chanted a spell, then sprinkled the fairy dust from her wings orver her head and body. She woke
up to find the spell had worked, she was large. Now,she thought, nobody will
recognize me who is a fairy, and no one else will
think of me as a fairy.Just as she was pondering and
dancing about her new-found life,a soft rustling came
through the leaves.A small dwarf of a man came out
and looked at her.She stood tall, taller
than the man himself, and asked who he was.He explained he was the dwarf Leiko. He
asked he rof her name,and
she refused to tell him. Finally she was persuaded and
responded calmly,
"I am a human being,and my name,is
Guineviere."

(it's called Desert Dancing)
"Hurry up,Jane! We'll be late for the art
museum!!!"
Meira James and her best friend, Jane McNally, were art fanatics. They were constantly going to the local art
museums and looking at all the pictures, sometimes
they even drew the pictures on notepads and compared them to see how good they
were.
"I'm coming,I'm coming!!!!"Jane yelled back.As
soon as Jane was ready they grabbed their notebooks and art pads and left Meira's house. They ran down the
street and across the local park and playground where little kids were playing. They raced across the vacant moor that was at the
edge of the playground, and ran across it towards the
huge building at the other end. That was where they
were going,the AnistonVille
Town Art Museum.Once there they showed their passes
and their student ID cards, and got in for only a few bucks.Just then,in the lobby, they found their worst nightmare,a
sign anouncing that the museum would be moving all
the way across town, where they couldn't go visit it
without someone driving them, and both their parents
were always busy. They were so sad, that
Jane suggested going home, but right at that moment,Meira saw a sign with an arrow to a brand new
portrait titled 'Desert Dancing' and they ran down the hall to the exhibit. There they saw the most beautiful portrait they had
ever seen, and sat down right there in front of it to
admire it.They pulled out their scetchpads
and began to draw. That was when the nearby security gaurd ran up and told them that they would not want to be
copying it down. They asked him why.
"Last time someone tried to make a drawing of that,"he
whispered in a low tone,"they mysteriously dissappreared,right here,in front of my eyes!"he
added seeing them get a strained look on their faces from trying not to laugh. The security guard looked embarrased, and turned around to walk away, but
not before giving them a sort of glance tied between disaproving
and worried. As he reached his post at the end of the hall,he turned around to find them nowhere in sight, yet their scetchbooks were
still there...
"Jane!!!!Jane are you ok???What happened?!?!?"Meira
and Jane had just landed with a hard thump in the middle of a huge desert. Then they noticed people were fading in around them, and they reliezed, they
were in the portrait.A lady in front of them was
dancing in a smal blue outfit, while
men around her were wearing royal purple robes and clapping and staring in aww while playing on many various instruments. The
lady dancing suddenly runed around and saw them, she looked surprised and ashamed, but
also very disaproving.
"You!and you,too!You copied a picture of me,and
now,you will pay!"the
lady thrust her arms out at them, and
moved her fingers in a mysterious way,and suddenly,Meira was alone. She
looked behind her and saw an oppening in the setting sky, just the size of the portrait, and
on the other side saw the museum hall, and Jane
rubbing her head and looking around, her eyes falling
on the portrait.She looked scared,suddenly
Jane ran away,and all Meira
saw was the hall.
"Look at me,foolish girl!This
portrait i am in,was cursed
with an old and evil spell set by the man who painted it,right
here,in this desert.We were
all trapped in it forever, until someone like you came
along to set us free, now, you will be the one trapped, and I will go free to live your life, while
you live mine!"The lady screamed with delight
and a tint of evil could be heard in it.For one moment,Meira was floating, yet not
floating, somewhere, yet nowhere at the same time, and everything made sense, yet
it all made no sense at all, then Meira
looked around and saw the lady had disappeared, and
she had become the lady. She looked out at the hall
and saw herself getting up off of the floor. The men
around her were laughing and jeering at her and calling her crude names.ne came up to her and said,
"Dance! Now!"and touched her with his fingers, suddenly she was dancing, just
as the other lady had danced, and she couldn't stop. She had no choice but to dance in a skinpy outfit in front of laughing, jeering, and
cat-caling men,for the rest
of her eternity, until someone just like herself came
along again,and copied the picture...
"Meira!Meira wake up!You're
supposed to be at Jane's house right now so you can go down to the museum! And guess what,I heard
there's a new painting there,one called Desert
Dancing!"

Mindful
Deaths
Lissa Lolaine was a freak
in the eyes of many many children, but not only that, she was
a freak in the eyes of her parents, and was sad
because they were ashamed to be seen in public with her.Now
Lissa was actually a very pretty girl, but
Lissa had an untold power and ability to do things
nobody thought possible,Lissa,could kill...
This might surprise you that because Lissa had the
amazing abilioty to kill people with her mind and not
leave a trace,or leave many clues leading to someone else, that people would shun her, you'd
think they'd be affraid of her,but
they weren't.They were not affriad,because
of one thing,Lissa was affraid.Ever
since she accidently killed somebody because they
made her so mad and so sad,Lissa has shunned herself, affraid that she will kill again,on
accident or otherwise.Lissa was 12 years old when she
had first found out about her power, and the way she
found out was very unfortunate, because she found out
she could kill,by killing.Lissa
had run home that day and locked herself in her room, she
knew she had done it,but would not tell the police. That was when everyone found out,her
parents had squealed on her,but the police had no
evidence so no matter how many times she confessed they would not believe her.By the time she was 16 she could no longer take the
taunting and ran away over the Easten Mountains where
she took shelter in a green valley with a small stream running through it.She learned to take care of ehrself
by learning to light fires, then she would kill rabits and squirels, but never
large animals, then she would cook them. She
slept in a field of wildflowers, and became a woman of
the wild.Back home everyone was worried about her,and they all went to look for her.It
was 3 years before anybody ever found Lissa, and that
person was Alla Tom Huckginger,a
farmer who worked his flocks in a pasture a few miles from the valley that Lissa know called home. One day Alla took his flocks out to the valley because a horrible
drought had swept his pasture and the sheep needed food.Lissa
was washing her hair in the stream when she was tapped on the back by Mr.Huckginger.She turned around, and
being so surprised by him, immediatly he died. She began to cry,and picked
up his body. She knew he had meant no harm, but she had not seen another human for years. She took his body and lay it down near his sheep, then she quickley herded
the sheep into a small paddock that the farmer had been setting up before he
saw her. Then she hid behind some trees and chaged into a white down that she had brought with her when
she ran,but never wore,she
ran to the body again, and sat with it.She took his jacket and put it on,she
was freezing in the breeze that was blowing down in the valley. Finally, she
decided to take the man back to where he lived. It took
her many days but she finally reached a small hut where she left the body. Then she went back to the valley. When
Lissa got back, she sat,and waited, she did not eat or
sleep, just sat there in the wildflowers and waited, waited for her life to catch up with her and for
death to do its part in her mournful life. She waited
for many days, when she finally died.Just
weeks later,a group of hikers came across her,and saw her body sitting there, and
the sheep in the small paddok. They took her body back
to her parents,who mourned greatly,but
were actually relieved that their daughter was dead. They
held no burial service and threw the body down the town well.Just
the next day,Lissa'a parents' bodies were found dead
in the house, with no trace as to who killed them, except,in Lissa's room, laided out neatly on the bed, were
the white gown and shepard's jacket, which
Lissa had been wearing when she was thrown down the
well..
