Summer Mountain Ride
July 16-18, 2004

The Third Annual Motorcycle Tourer's Forum Summer Mountain Ride is scheduled to start July 16, 2004. Plans for the ride include a group lunch Friday (when we meet) and a Poker Run on Saturday. Other meals will up to the individual rider(s). Most of our group will be staying at the Ridgetop Motel & Campgrounds (same as last year). The owners of the Ridge Top, Ron and Darlene Pickett, offer our group a great rate ($50 for one bed, $55 for 2 beds, campsites also available) and enjoy having motorcycle riders stay at their motel/campground. Be sure and mention the Motorcycle Tourer's Forum Summer Mountain Ride when you call for your reservation. Make your reservations early. Motels in this area fill up fast in the summer season and rates are normally $100+. One last item - please notify me via e-mail when you make your reservation or if you plan to come to ride and not stay in the motel. I would like to know what size group to expect and who will be there.

Headquarters for the ride will be at the Ridgetop Motel and Campground in Bryson City, NC.

Game Plan Day 1
Meet at 1100A EST at the Cracker Barrel, Newport, TN for lunch. Please fill your motorcycle up with gas before coming to the restaurant. We plan to leave from the restaurant at 1230P. From Newport, we will ride to Hot Springs, NC, turn south on NC 209, and on to Bryson City to check-in at the motel. After check-in we will ride to the Taboco Lodge for dinner (45 miles).

The ride starts at 1100P, July 16, 2004, at the Cracker Barrel in Newport, TN.

Game Plan Day 2
Saturday's ride will be in a Poker Run format. The entry fee for the poker run will be $10 and all entry money will be used for prizes. Twelve locations in the NC, GA, TN area (bring your maps) will be designated as poker run stops. Riders must visit 5 of the locations to qualify and be able to draw a poker hand. Proof of visit will be required and may be receipts, souvenirs, or pictures (digital).

Poker run stops for Saturday's ride.
