After some amount of waiting and watching Duade resolved to gather her possessions and take her with him, and though he justified this by the fact that she, unconscious could not survive alone in the forest, he would not likely have left the dear creature under any circumstance. He took her Broadsword and set it upon his belt. Her Brass armor, he somehow managed to pack between her bags and his. Her cloak… he wrapped gently around her. Finally he slung upon his back both bags, and gently lifted her limp body to rest in his arms as he made his way swiftly on his path.
When night came he held her gently in his arms and lightly bathed her forehead in water. The night passed and Duade continued on his journey stopping only as he reached a lake as the sun approached its most unsettling radiance, and heat. With some hesitation he left her and his possessions under some brush hidden from the path of passerby’s, and sheltered from the torrenting rain that had barely begun to die down; shortly there after he made his way into the forest to do his business. Whistling a tuneless melody he made his way deeper into the forest.
Suddenly just as he was nearly satisfied with the spot, he heard the fell screams of a lass in trouble. Silencing his happy tune, he listened until he could make out the direction from which the cries were issued. Finding satisfaction in his guess some seconds later he dashed forward in a gallant effort to rescue the damsel in distress.
As he ran aimlessly toward the screams he barely noticed as an enormous web covered him an event that shortly proceeded the painful thud of something hitting his face.
After Duade reached up to clear his vision of the anomaly blocking it he discovered he held in his left hand a strange and elegant being, a woman who stretched little more then the length of his hand. She made each desperate gasp for air with a shiver of pain; such was the sweetness and sorrow of each breath’s sound that it would soothe and sting the heart of any creature of earth, and so it brought a calm pain to Duade along with a very earnest concern for the dear creature that lay sprawled out upon his hand. Her eyes were still closed after a moment but her breath had calmed a little and her gasps for air became a little less furious. For what seemed forever she lay sprawled out covered from head to toe in bits of web, but eventually her eyes opened and she attempted to sit up in Duade’s hand, however she had pried herself little farther then a centimeter before she, gasping in apparent pain, again fell to her back, and slowly pulled her knees to her forehead while her body rolled to its side and shaking convulsively she locked her arms about them.
Duade having had no clue what to say up to that point, tears running gently from his eyes slowly brought his face closer to the little angel in his palm,
“E’m soorry li’l dear, ‘ave aye hur’cha much?” He whispered gently to her quivering body trying his hardest not to let any tears drop upon her. All the while his right hand searched frantically through the little potion bag that always hung from his belt.
“It...it hurts, oh it hurts so much!” was her near inaudible wail.
“Aha!! ‘ere we go li’l dear, aye got jussa potion fo ya.” Duade said a little louder then was probably recommendable because her little hands soon shot up to cover her delicate ears as a short yelp escaped her elegant little mouth.
“Oops” he sighed, “well ‘ere we go.” He said pulling out a vile of glowing blue liquid, and dabbing a little upon his right index finger drawing it close to her lips, “ ‘ere las’, you ‘ad best take a li’l o’ dis’ ‘ere Elixir, it’ll do ya a worl’ a good.”
The poor creature hesitantly brought her face closer to the glowing liquid on his index finger, and took a few sniffs. After a few moments she let out a heart warming sigh and taking a deep breath her eyes closed and she slowly brought her lips to his finger and began to suckle from it the Elixir that now had begun to soak into his skin. As she suckled her body began to be gently lifted from his palm, and was surrounded by a flurry of moving blue, yellow, and green lights. To which her response was simply to thrust her arms tightly around Duade’s index finger, suckling harder.
“Ceafow dere, that stuff can be addictive, ya know.” Duade said.
There was not even the slightest halt to her suckling upon these words. In fact as Duade hesitantly reached to pull her from him, her legs locked tightly around his finger.
“Now, now li’l dear aye can’t hav’ ya’a grippin’ me ol’ day.” He said, and with a quick tug of his left hand she was locked in his palm, arms flailing furiously.
After a moment her flailing stopped, and upon her issueing of a sigh of defeat her arms crossed over Duades thumb and her chin thrust violently into her arms, as she glared bitterly at his outstretched finger.
“Now, hav’ ya got a name lass?” Duade asked.
“I am Flavenontwianthat , Daughter of Durerius (der’ -rie us), son of Denicro (den ik-row) the third, Princess of Fay’run’s greatest empire, the lily layers of the east.” she said with nearly as much pride as ego.
There was a pause during which Duade seemed to think.
“sooo… Flitz, watcha’ doin’ in these er’ po’ts, Bein’ a Princess an’ o’l should’n cha’ be off in a castle o’ sorts?” he asked inquisitively, and just as she made to respond he quickly interrupted her, “oh my, ave’ fo’gotton my manna’s agane ‘avent I, my names Duade, Duade Oregoth. Pleased ta meet’cha li’l dear. Now, I’d love ta’ chat dear but aye’d best be on ma’ way.” Shortly after saying this he loosened his grip on her and she quickly writhed free and began to dance above his head. “Now las’ aye have impo’tant matters to attend to.” He said making his way back into the forest’s depths from whence he had come.
“Well I’m coming with you.” She yelped making her way to his side, “And that’s that!”
“Ve’y well, wha’ever ya la’k Flitz.” Duade grumbled turning back to the patch where he had left the beautiful half elf in his charge.
“oh, and one more thing!!” The little fairy shouted, “you will address me properly as either Flavnontwianthat, or Princess!!!”
“Sho’ tha’ng Flitz… Sho’ Tha’ng.” He said as they grew close enough to see the sparkle of the noonday sun on the water of the lake.
“What are you trying to do!? Get me caught!?” she shouted frantically searching for a place to hide.
Duade paused and sighed opening the pouch around his neck and chuckling a little, “er’ las’ they won’ see ya in he’r.” he said.
“Who wo-“ Flitz spat out indignantly interrupting herself with a grumble after which she quickly made her way into the leather pouch and propped her head out grumpily, “you had better not squash me!!”
“No worries las, no worries” he said shaking his head with a smile.
During the chatter they had come upon the very spot where Duade had left his burdens. He reached down and gently brushed the half elf’s hair from over her eyes and gazed lovingly at her helpless form.
The fairy a sound of most obvious disapproval, “why didn’t you tell me about HER!?!?” she yelled flying out of hiding to push Duade’s hand from her cheek.
To this Duade’s response was to smile and begin calmly to gather up his things, slinging them callously over his shoulder before making a response, “Ya’ di’not ask dear.”
Again Flitz grumbled, mumbling something under her breath as she made her way back into hiding.
Duade then gently lifted the half elf into his arms, making sure not to crush Flitz in the process.
“SHES-“ Flitz paused in anger, “coming with us?!” Flitz wailed indignantly as Duade made his way off towards the horizon.
Duades pace did not slow, and neither did Flitz’ chatter until from in his arms came a sigh, and all halted. There was not even a breath as the two watched the half elf’s eyes open, expressing in an instant her true beauty. Flitz glared jealously at Duade as he gazed awestricken, into them.
