"Part Eight: The Unexpected Encounter"
Elora Gallardo

As the rain drops pounded against her wings she soared trying as hard as she could to dodge them. she had not seen rain in a long time and was surprised as large drops fell from the black stormy sky. But then again, everything was large to her.

To the human eye she could easily be mistaken for a elf if not for her size, she was almost 7 inches tall (much larger the Thumballina), and perhaps the fact she had wings made indiffrent from a elf. Wings that were as a cross between a dragonfly’s and a butterfly’s, with the color of a transparent silver-green. She had a white-silvery dress on that made her shine wonderfully and her skin, as soft as a roses petal, glowed like the midnight moon.

She became exhausted very quickly for the drops were growing more difficult to dodge. Finding shelter in a hollow log, she rested for several minutes as she regained her strength for the perilous path that lay ahead. After she had again set off, she thanked the heavens for stopping the rain which would surely allow her to fly more freely. As she was carlessly flying, a spider’s web surprised her and she was caught in it. It was thick and strong so the rain did not rip it down. As she struggled she tore it a bit in weak spots. It was to big for her to tear it all down. As she struggled she was unaware of the noise and movement she was causing... a movment that would surely attract whatever lived in the web. A eight legged monstrosity came out in the open of the web and started to walk toward the struggling... (help). She had started to panic and scream as she noticed the spider.

The spider was extremely large for it’s size but that would also explain why the web was so huge. The drops of rain on the web made it look enchanted. It was built between two enormous trees. She was very fortunate that the web was so big so that it took a considrable amount of time for it to get to the middle.

As she screamed the hopless spells that she had continued to hit the spider with were useless. her stunning spell took little effect but it had slowed the spider a bit. Her endless screams echoed in the silence of the forest. The sound would no doubt carry though the forest but that hope that someone would hear here floated away as she knew that at this time not many people traveled through the forest and she half didn’t want anthing else to find her. But she also would not want to be a spider’s meal. She continued to scream hoping, praying that someone would hear her.
