Antirne did not know what to do. The girl was like her, but half spoiled by man. She almost pitied the child.
"What do you want?" she asked nervously. Just because the girl was half elf didn't mean she wouldn't turn on her and side with the humans. The half elf blinked but did not respond. Antirne, feeling insulted felt her body tense again. She nodded curtly once to the half elf and turned her back to her as she walked away farther into the forest. Although she kept her eyes averted in front of her at all times, she was fully aware of the half elf's gaze on her back.
A twig snapped suddenly in the darkness off to her left. Antirne froze, her heart hammering in her chest. She backed away from its source and spun around, running in the opposite direction. Suddenly a net was over her head,
"NO!" she screamed, "NO!!!" Hands grasped her arms and body. She struggled helplessly in the trapper's hands. Her arms were bound behind her, useless. Tears streamed down her face. She heard the hunters laughing at her. Pointing at her and congratulating each other on their catch of the night. She heard one of them approach her. She looked into his burly face defiantly; never crying out as he hit her for it. He began to rub her arm and hair almost lovingly. Antirne tensed, not knowing what to do. The man's hand began to trace the curves of her body and she cringed, her body shaking in fear.
Suddenly all went quiet. Realizing her mistake, Antirne had abruptly stopped moving and muted herself. She swiftly and silently jumped away from the tree; fully intending on injuring her would-be-capturer. She refused to go back to that place. That desolation of mankind. Her stomach churned as she showed herself to her enemy. The half elf stared back at her, ready for Antirne's attack. When none came, she did not relax her guard, but stood defiantly glaring at Antirne.
