"Part Thirteen: Identity"
Naomi Hwang

Angelic stood and only staring blankly at both Duade and the sobbing elf before him. Alive? What did she mean by that? Wait, isn't she -

- The elf looked up at Duade, tears still streaming down her face. After a moment, Duade knelt down before her, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Please, don't cry, I 'ate ta see someone as be'autiful as yer'self cry fer any reason," Duade spoke gently to the elf, smiling slightly. The girl looked up at him for a moment, than wiped away her tears. She stood up taller than she had before.

"Thank you, I am glad that you are alive and well," Duade smiled, still puzzled. Then his clouded expression became crystal clear as he chuckled.

"I'm alive and well, thanks to that lass behin' ya," Duade began glancing up at Angelic. The elf turned toward her, eyes widening. Angelic only stared back at her in return. Duade paused for a moment, glancing between the two.

"You two know each other?" Angelic nodded.

"We met along this very path," she replied. The two stood studying each other carefully as Duade rubbed the back of his neck, uncomfortabley. Flitz, poked her head out of the pouch around his neck.

"WHAT'S GOING ON!" She shouted up at Duade. He cringded in response. Flitz realizing that another presence was near, She lept out of the pouch flying up to the elf's face. The elf reared back in surprise, almost swatting the fairy out of the air. Flitz quickly flew back over to Duade's side.

"What kind of people do you keep meeting up with?!" She shouted in his ear. Everyone gritted their teeth as she shouted. Angelic shook her head as all turned their attention toward Flitz. Noticing everyone's eyes on her, Flitz sat down upon Duade's shoulder, blushing fiercely. The elf turned back to Angelic.

"So we meet again," Angelic began, finally breaking the awkward silence. The elf smiled slightly, then taking a large step forward, she gave a deep bow.

"Angelic Golomna, I am still indepted to you for your generosity,"

"Stand tall and take pride in your freedom," the elf looked up in confusion, "As I have said before, you owe me nothing; and aparently your time of exile is over," Angelic looked over at Duade as she spoke. The elf looked down at her feet, gently kicking up dust from the path.

"Tell me, what is your name?" The elf looked up in surprise. She hadn't told anyone her name in many years. For so long, she had be refered to as a number.

"M-my name?" Angelic nodded, "I-it's Antirne," she stuttered.

"And do not forget it," Angelic replied. Antirne stared back blankly.

"You are free and you must have courage and faith in yourself now, if you wish to survive," Antirne's face became stern as she listened to the half elf.

"You are much wiser than you appear to be," Antirne and Angelic smiled at each other for a moment. Perhaps she is on neither side, Antirne thought. Duade yawned in boredom, both women looked over at him slightly irratated. He laughed nervously, as Flitz stared back at the two in anger.
