Teaching Aid – Song Victory in Jesus

 

Do you ever make New Years resolutions?  Most of us have.  Some have resolved to lose weight, conqueror some bad habit, exercise more, or perhaps to tackle some long overdue task.

 

Since retiring from teaching, I work in a fitness center (YMCA).  The week after New Years Day you can hardly find an exercise machine to use.  The weight room and the Nautilus Center are full.  It soon dies off to where most of the people you see are the usual participants; of course a few of the new exercisers stay.

 

Most of our good intentions are just that, good intentions.  Most fitness experts would agree to lose weight or to stay fit requires a change in lifestyle.  It is pretty hard to defeat an addiction or lose a bad habit if one continues to frequent on a regular basis the places and activities associated with this addiction.

 

When one accepts Christ the opposite occurs the old things pass away and one becomes a new creature.   The heart is changed and the emptiness in our soul is filled with the love of Jesus Christ.  Now we look not only to a New Year but a new life.  We have victory in Jesus.  Happy New Life!

 

Father may we all begin this New Year with the knowledge that Jesus is Lord and his grace is sufficient. Amen
